I only remember bits and pieces of the song, but you might also want to
check in the newsgroup rec.music.dementia
For those not familiar with Nepoleon XIV, they are a novelty group from
the 1950's that writes songs from the perspective of insane persons.
Such titles include:
They're coming to take me away
* I'm glad they came and took you away
* Now that they've came and taken me away
* spinoff of they're coming to take me away
There is also a 45 single that was out which played this song forward
on one side and in reverse on the opposite.
I'm in love with my little red tricycle
The nuts in my family tree
Do the nepoleon
Photogenic, Schizophrenic you
Bats in my belfree
The place where the nuts hunt the squirrels
Split level head
They're maybe others, but it's been a while since I've heard anything done
by them.

I need to find the lyrics to the humorous song that begins,
"They're coming to take me away, ha ha. They're coming to
take me away, hee hee. To the funny farm, where things are
happy....."
That's all I can remember, and I need the lyrics so I can
spoof them for another song project...
Any help MUCH appreciated!

- They Are Coming To Take Me Away Ha Haa
Remember when you ran away and
I got down on my knees and begged you
Not to leave because I'd go berserk? Well,
You left me anyhow and then the
Days got worse and worse and now you
See I've gone completely out of my mind. And,
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho ho, he he, ha ha,
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young
Men in their clean white coats and
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!
You thought it was a joke and so you
Laughed, you laughed! When I had said that
Losing you would make me flip my lid - right?
You know you laughed, I heard you laugh,
You laughed, you laughed and laughed, and then you
Left, but now you know I'm utterly mad. And,
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho ho, he he , ha ha,
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!
I cooked your food, I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds? Huh?
Well, you just wait--they'll find you yet
And when they do they'll put you in the
ASPCA you mangy mutt! And,
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho ho, he he, ha ha,
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young
Men in their clean white coats and
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young
Men in their clean white coats and
They're coming to take me away!

The song you're talking about is called "They're Coming To Take Me Away
Ha-Haaa!" & it's by Napoleon XIV (Jerry Samuels) & it was released in
1966. The lyrics are as follows (& they are exact).
Remember when you ran away & I got on my knees & begged you not to
leave because I'd go beserk? Well, you left me anyhow & then the days
got worse & worse & now you see I've gone completely out of my mind
and...
They're coming to take me away ha ha. They're coming to take me away ho
ho, hee hee ha ha. To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the
time & I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white
coats & they're coming to take me away ha ha!
You thought it was a joke & so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that losing you would make me flip my lid. Right? You know you laughed,
I heard you laugh. You laughed, you laughed & laughed & then you left.
But, now you know I'm utterly mad. And...
They're coming to take me away ha ha. They're coming to take me away ho
ho, hee hee ha ha. To the happy home with trees & flowers & chirpping
birds & basket weavers who sit & smile & twiddle their thumbs & toes &
they're coming to take me away ha ha!
I cooked your food, I cleaned your house & this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds, huh? Well you just wait,
they'll find you yet & when they do they'll put you in the ASPCA you
mangy mut. And...
They're coming to take me away ha ha. They're coming to take me away ho
ho, hee hee, ha ha. To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the
time & I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white
coats & they're coming to take me away ha ha. To the happy home with
trees & flowers & chirpping birds & basket weavers who sit & smile &
twiddle their thumbs & toes & they're coming to take me away ha ha!
