I'm trying to learn the history of the song "Somebody's Waiting For You". My
deceased grandmother recited it to my mother when she was a child in
the 1930's, making it a family treasure. Knowing the history of the song
might help us figure out where my grandmother learned it. Here is what I
know about the song so far...

The song was copyrighted in 1906 (see Levy Sheet Music site links below).
This site shows it was written by Vincent Bryan, performed by Dorothy Drew.
See additional details under "1906 SHEET MUSIC." Some have suggested the
song was performed by those listed below:

Performer Title (year)
---------------------- ----------------------------------------------
Frank Stanley Somebody's waiting for you (?)
Cliff Carlisle Somewhere there's somebody waiting for you (?)
Bradley Kincaid Somebody's waiting for you (?)
Fred Holstein Somewhere, somebody's waiting (?)

Who might I contact to help with the history of this song, or purchase a
record / recording of it? THANKS FOR YOU HELP!!

LYRICS-- Somebody's waiting for You

In a Cool Shady Nook, by the Side of the Brook,
Two Sweet Maidens were Fishing alone,
They Talked as They Fished, and the Younger Girl Wished,
for the Sweetheart She never had known,
The other Girl said, with a Toss of Her Head,
Cheer up Dear there's no cause to be Blue,
Your Love You've not met but He'll come to You yet,
for there's somebody waiting for You.

Somewhere, somebody's waiting for You, You, You,
Somewhere, somebody's longing Who's Heart is True,
Sometime, You'll Love Somebody Who Loves You Too,
Somewhere, Somebody's waiting for You, You, You.

Then a Youth passing by, heard Her Sister's Reply,
and He Joined in Their Chat, Half in Fun,
He said It is True, Someone's waiting for You,
and I wish You Thought, I was the One,
She paused for awhile, and She said with a Smile,
I'm not sure, but you may be It's true,
But if You are Wrong, Why You won't worry long,
for there's somebody waiting for You.

Somewhere, somebody's waiting for You, You, You,
Somewhere, somebody's longing Who's Heart is True,
Sometime, You'll Love Somebody Who Loves You Too,
Somewhere, Somebody's waiting for You, You, You.
