Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help me... I have been looking for
the lyrics for Musical Youth' "Pass the Dutchie" for ages, and have
not been able to locate them anywhere. The best I got was a mention of
the song in the "misheard lyrics" site, but otherwise nada.

I would highly appreciate it if someone could *email* me the lyrics
(take care to remove the uppercase part from my email address as
appears in this post).

Many TIA,
Barak

Pass The Dutchie
-----------------
Musical Youth
Music & Lyrics: Mittoo, Simpson, Ferguson

This generation
Rules the nation
With version

Music happen to be the food of love
Sounds to really make you rub and scrub

I say Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance

It was a cool and lovely breezy afternoon
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
You could feel it 'cause it was the month of June
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
So I left my gate and went out for a walk
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
As I pass the dreadlocks' camp I heard them say
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance

So I stopped to find out what was going on.
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
'Cause the spirit of Jah, you know he leads you on
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
There was a ring of dreads and a session was there in swing
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)
You could feel the chill as I seen and heard them say
(How does it feel when you've got no food ?)

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance

'Cause me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass
Give me little music make me wind up me waist
Me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass
Give me little music make me wind up me waist, I say

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance

You play it on the radio, a so me say, we a go hear it on the stereo
A so me know you a go play it on the disco
A so me say we a go hear it on the stereo

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance

I say east, say west, say north and south (on the left hand side)
This is gonna make us jump and shout (on the left hand side)

Pass The Dutchie
Buck-0-Nine
(originally by Musical Youth..)

This generation rules the nation, with version,
Music happen to be the food of love.
Sounds to really make you rub and scrub.

I say: Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,
pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,
it a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance,
it a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance.

It was a cool and lovely breezy afternoon.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

You could feel it 'cause it was the month of June.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

So I left my gate and went out for a walk.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

As i pass the dreadlock's camp I heard them say:

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,...

So I stopped to find out what was going on.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

'Cause the spirit of yah you know he leads you on.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

There was a ring of dreads and a session was there in swing.

How does it feel when you've got no food?

You could feel the chill as I seen and heard them say:

How does it feel when you've got no food?

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,...

'Cause me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass.
Give me little music make me wind up me waist.
Me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass.
Give me little music make me wind up me waist.

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,...

You play it on the radio a so me say, we a go hear it on the stereo,
a so me know you a go play it on the disco,
a so me say we a go hear it on the stereo.

Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side,...

I say east, say west, say north and south,
this is gonna make us jump and shout.

I didn't think there were any other Musical Youth fans out there. These
lyrics came direct from the album sleeve. Enjoy!

Pass the Dutchie
This generation rule the nation, with version,
Music happen to be the food of love,
Sounds to really make you rub and scrub,
Sland Baddang Bang Ling Bang Biddle
Bang Bang Biddle Biddle Biddle Biddle Biddle, Bang - I say

CHORUS: Pass the dutchie on the left hand side
Pass the dutchie on the left hand side
It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance
It a go done, give me the music make me rock in the dance.

It was a cool and breezy afternoon,
how does it feel when you've got no food?
You could feel it cause it was the month of June,
So I leave my gate and went out for a walk.
As I pass the dread locks' camp I heard them say
CHORUS
Bang bang ling bang biddle bang
Bang biddle biddle biddle bang
So I stop to find out what was going on
Cause the spirit of Jah you know he leads you on
There was a ring of dreads and the session was there in swing

You could feel the chill as I seen and heard them say

CHORUS

Cause me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass

Give me little music make me wind up me waist

Me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass

Give me little music make me wind up me waist

CHORUS

You play it on the radio a so me say, we a go hear it on the stereo

A so me know you a go play it on the disco,
A so me say we a go, hear it on the stereo.
CHORUS
On the left hand side, I say
On the left hand side, I say,
On the left hand side, ribbit,
On the left hand side, bim,
On the left hand side
I say East, say West, say North and South
This is gonna make us jump and shout...

Nice to know that artists sing something different from what they say they
do...listen to the record and tell me that the little boy's actually even
TRYING to sing "version"...

Anyone have the lyric to the original version of this (group name forgotten)
called "Pass the Couchie," which made no bones about it being a song in
praise of Ganja?

JohnnyO
Passing the...well, never mind...

The Mighty Diamonds were the group. I tried transcribing them, but no dice.
