In a way, this is a strange song.

Everyone that covers it does a good job!

Maybe it's just that good a song?

Five Hundred Miles
Hedy West

If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone.
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

A hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,

You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four,
Lord I'm five hundred miles away from home.
Away from home, away from home, away from home, away from home,
Lord I'm five hundred miles away from home.

Not a shirt on my back, not a penny to my name,
Lord I can't go back home this a way.
This a way, this a way, this a way, this a way,
Lord I can't go back home this a way.

If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone.
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

A hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,

You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

Alles Gute, viel Spass damit

Oliver,

You may wish to re-send your message with a different, more meaningful
subject heading. For example: "lyrics to '500 Hundred Miles' needed."

With so many messages here, most people do not have time to read
them all and simply read the ones that they are interested in or think
that they can offer help to. Your current subject header " lyrics needed"
is not very descriptive. Most all of these messages are asking for lyrics.

The song, sung by Peter. Paul & Mary, and others was written by Hedy West.
It was also sung by the Kingston Trio.

If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone

You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles

A hundred miles (4x)
You can hear the whstle blow a hundred miles

Lord I'm 1, Lord I'm 2, Lord I'm 3, Lord I'm 4
Lord I'm 500 miles from my home
From my home (4x) Lord I'm 500 hundred miles from my home

Not a shirt on my back, not a penny to my name

Lord, I can't go back home this away
This away (4x)
