I'm missing some of the lyrics, but the majority of them are here.
Anyone else wanna fill in the gaps?

You're So Vain by Carly SImon
[supposedly about Warren Beatty, or so the rumor goes]

You walked into the party
Llike you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically placed below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gravot
[gravot may be spelled wrong - it is some sort of dance?]
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner,
They'd be your partner and...

CHORUS
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you, don't you, don't you.

[there are lyrics missing here - I'm going by memory and I can't
remember what the lyrics are before the next line - anyone else?]

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee,
Clouds in my coffee and...

CHORUS

[guitar solo thingee]

You probably think this song is about you, don't you, don't you...

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse natually won
Then you flew your lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not, you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend,
Wife of a close friend and...

CHORUS

Repeat to fade.

It's "gavotte", and yes.

You had me several years ago, when I was still quite naive.
When said that we made such apretty pair, and that you would never leave.
But you gave away the things you loved, and one of them was me.

I thought it was:
Your hair strategically dipped below one eye
but that's just my take on it.

Yes, it's "gavotte", some French dance is all I know.

Kind of a bitter song, isn't it?

Cheers,

You're So Vain
by Carly Simon

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht,
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye, your scarf it was apricot,
You had one eye on the mirror as you watched yourself gavat,
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner, they'd be your partner and

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you,
Don't you, don't you?

Well you had me several years ago when I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair, and that you would never leave.

But you gave away the things you loved, and one of them was me.

I had a dream there were clouds in my coffee, clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you,
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you, don't you, don't you?

Well I hear you went up to Saratoga, and your horse, naturally, won.
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun.
Well, you're where you should be all the time, and when you're not you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend, wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you,
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you,
Don't you, don't you, don't you? And....
(Repeat to fade)

The word is "Cavort". It means to prance about.

Actually, I found the line to be..."As you watched yourself gavotte",
Websters New World College edition -Gavotte: 1. a 17th century dance like
the minuet, but faster and livelier.

The full lyrics I have are as follows...

You walked into the party

Like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye

Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror

As you watched yourself gavotte

And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner

They'd be your partner, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave

But you gave away the things you loved

And one of them was me

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee

Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee

Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won

Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia

To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time

And when you're not, you're with

Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend

Wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?
