"The Loco-Motion" was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and was
originally a #1 hit for their babysitter, Little Eva, in 1962 (King also
sang some backup vocals on the recording). In 1974, Grand Funk took the song
to #1 again, making it the second song of the rock era to reach #1 twice by
different artists (the first was another King/Goffin composition, "Go Away
Little Girl"). Carole King finally recorded her own song in 1980 on her
"Pearls" album.
The 80s version you seek was by Kylie Minogue. It reached #3 on the
