I recently heard a country song in the radio and would like to know
something more about it.
The title was "This will be our last song together", it was sung by a
female singer (maybe it could have been the voice of Emmylou Harris, but
this is just a guess.)
The reason why I remembered the melody of this song is:
I once knew a German version of this song from the year 1980 with the
title "Jenny wird noch heute nacht sterben", sung by a young guy whose
name I can愒 remember - well, I saw it once (I think it was in the German
TV music show "Disco"). This song did not become a successful hit in
Germany, neither did this singer become popular or have other songs -
but it was a very sad and beautiful song.
Now that I recently heard this English/American(?) song I realized that
the song that I knew must have been the German version of this original -
and I悲 like to know who and when this song was published for the
first time, or who has ever sung it (maybe there are more versions,
but as I explained, the original one must be from 1980 or older.)
If someone knows the complete lyrics of this song, I would also be
interested and very thankful if he/she might post it or tell me a
homepage where I could find it.
Please could you send your answer also to my e-mail address
a...@ier.uni-stuttgart.de - there are so many postings in this
newsgroup so I can愒 look at it all the time.
Well - now just another question comes into my mind - does also
someone know who sang the original of "Rocky" that was a Nr. 1 hit
in Germany by Frank Farian in spring 1976. It愀 a story of a couple
where the girl becomes pregnant, and afterwards dies ...
(It has nothing to do with the song "Eye of the tiger" from the
"Rocky" movie ...)
Many thanks for your help ;-).

I'm drawing on life to paint pictures, that's what I do with my time
Baby if you want to know me, it's all here in rhythm and rhyme.
It's all here in rhythm and rhyme,
The sweet and the bitter
And the tales of their time
And maybe our story's the last one I tell
But me and these arms have loved every man that they've held
I've seen the sand devils fly cross the desert out in Arizona
And Tennessee autumns still hold me under their spell
Montana mountains and flatlands that go on forever
And me and these arms have loved every man that they've held
It's all here in rhythm and rhyme,
The sweet and the bitter
And the tales of their time
And maybe our story's the last one I tell
But me and these arms have loved every man that they've held

Last Song Together
This will be our last song together
Words will only make us cry
This will be our last song together
There's no other way we can say good-bye...
Dusty places, far off faces
Came and danced across the room
Tra-la-las and doobie-dahs
The sounds that chase away the gloom
Yesterday is yesterday
The past is dead and gone
Nostalgia just gets in the way
Lets stop hanging on
This will be our last song together
Words will only make us cry
This will be our last song together
There's no other way we can say good-bye.
(la-la-la)
Now we go our separate ways
And leave the world we used to know
Scratchy worn out 45s
An echo on the radio
The tra-la days are over
The days of me and you
Now we know that moving on
Is really hard to do
This will be our last song together
Words will only make us cry
This will be our last song together
There's no other way we can say good-bye
La-la-la, la-la-la-la (repeat for a really long time)
This will be our last song together
Words will only make us cry
This will be our last song together
There's no other way we can say good-bye.
