OK, you all were VERY helpful with the songs with money amounts in their
lyrics... how about this one?

I'm compiling a list of songs from the past that have been used recently on
television commercials. For example, "Wear Your Love Like Heaven," by Donovan,
was used as the theme for a perfume (which one, I can't remember!), and Norman
Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" was heard in an airline commercial (again, this
aging brain can't remember the airline!) "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate is
being heard in some commercial now (Burger King??)

Can you think of any others, along with the product being advertised?

There's so many! Here's a start...

She's a Rainbow by the Rolling Stones - iMac
You Cant Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones - Motorola
Revolution by the Beatles - Nike
Come Together by the Beatles - some communications company ... forget
Crazy Train by Black Sabbath - Cadillac Sport Utility Vehicles
Fly Like an Eagle by Steve Miller Band - US Postal Service

I'll try to think of some more...

As a matter of fact, sitting here at the computer just a bit ago with the TV
on, I heard Time of the Season by the Zombies almost in it's entirety. Shot
after shot of (I believe) Woodstock scenes were shown and then finally at the
end the product being advertised was shown------Tampax. Oh we've come a long
way since the 60's on television commercials.................

Two Bill Withers songs recently:

Burger King - "Just the Two of Us"? - I now they were using one of his
songs but can't recall if this is it - a little bit into the 80s I think,
but maybe 70s
GAP?? - "Lovely Day" - I've heard the song recently on commercials but
can't recall the product. I think it was gap clothes.

Burger King also used "Still the one" by Orleans and "Double Vision" by
Foreigner.

Interesting that the Stones' "Start Me Up" was used
in a commercial for Windows 95.

A particularly disgusting one was for some insurance company (AFLAC?) with
pictures of perfect children running around and a perfect well-off
couple...and they played the song "Every morning when I rise, it brings a
tear of joy to my eyes, you tell me everything's...gonna be all right."
But they cut into the song for their spoken bit about insurance just long
enough to remove the words "Even though we ain't got money"!! Obviously
that line would be totally foreign to the audience the company was aiming
at. Cynical and disgusting.

"Shout" was once used in a commercial for Shout laundry spray. The
Animal House version, not the Tears for Fears version.

A Skippy commercial once had "Everybody's Skippy Dipping" with footage of
people dipping celery etc. into a jar of peanut butter. Sounded like it
was a take off of some 60's song titled Everybody's Skinny Dipping.

Michelob Beer used "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" by Phil Collins. The
night belongs to Michelob.

Montgomery Ward's electronics department, Electric Avenue, once had
advertising with a song by the same name.

When Coke came out with a 3-liter bottle (whatever happened to that
anyway), they called it "Thirstbusters", and sung it to Ghostbusters.

I don't remember that commercial, but supermarkets here still sell soft drinks
in 2 and 3 liter bottles.
