A little! :-) Their stuff is an extension of the "bhangra" music that
first hit the scene in the UK 10 years ago.
(The lead guy of Cornershop has Punjabi roots)

For the uninitiated - Asha Bhonsle, Muhammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar
are all very famous playback singers in the Indian film industry.

Oops. I may have made a mistake.

I listened to it again - it may be "all on the radio - 45". which may
gel a little more.

By the way : people asked about the Punjabi lyrics.

At the start of the song :

I can't beleive I could have guessed correct spelling on
satdii raani (sot-ji rah-nee) and herve sommotto (er-vay sum-ot-toe) Are these
correct as well? Do you know enough Punjab to decipher the spoken intro? Please

regarding Cornershop :

I saw them perform this and other songs live on BBC2's Later (with Jools
Holland.)
I admit I liked them all.

But everybody older than 25 must recognise that the style/ rhythm of the
song Brimful of Asha
owes an awfull lot to the Velvet Underground.
(compare it to the original versions of "Rock'nroll" for instance).
But I still do like it.
