She's just sixteen years old
Leave her alone, they say.
Seperated by fools, who don't know what love is yet.
But I would wait till the end
of time for you
and do it again, it's true
I can't measure my love, there's nothing to compare it to.
(But I want you to know)
If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
and show you (alone?)
like you've never seen
ever seen
That's about all the lyrics I can remember. I'd be very grateful
if someone can tell me song title/singer.
Thanks-
R.

Before you buy.
The song is "Into the Night" by "Benny Mardones."
It was a Top 40 hit in the 1970s, then again, when
it was re-released as a single in 1989.

Can you tell us about the history of this tune? I never ever knew that it
was previously released in the 70s. Same artist, or was the '89 version a
cover? Was it in a movie, or was Benny just looking for a comeback?
Thanks,
John
John,
I was INCORRECT. It was first released in 1980. To double-check, I
found a Benny M. biography page at cdnow and copied this exerpt...
-------
Singer/songwriter and Maryland native Benny Mardones made a huge
splash with his '80s hit "Into the Night." The song made the Top 10
twice, a first for a solo artist. Originally from the 1980 album Never
Run, Never Hide, the song was also included on his self-titled 1989
release.
-------
So, I guess he was looking for a comeback. "Into the Night" was still
contemporary enough for CHR/Top40 radio in 1989. Plus, it had the
support of the record label, and radio. There were other re-releases
near the end of the '80s. Real Life's 1982 single, "Send Me an Angel,"
which was then titled, "Send Me an Angel '89." M's 1979 hit, "Pop
Muzik" was re-released, with a dance beat. I'm certain that there was
a Pointer Sisters song that was re-released around 1989.....probably,
"I'm So Excited." And maybe even the tune, "When I'm With You,"
from Sheriff. If I remember correctly, the band "Sheriff" later became
"Alias," and recorded the 1990 ballad, "More Than Words Can Say."
In any case, it seems as if the Benny Mardones tune was swept up in
the re-release madness of the late 1980s.

So we had nostalgia for the 80's, IN the 80's. Wow, it
really WAS a "me" decade! ;-) Thanks for the great
info.
