I've been looking for a song that I heard in that movie "Home For the
Holidays" (the dad was singing it in the car) that goes something
like...

The very thought of you
And I forget to do
The little ordinary things that one outto do
I'm living in a kindof daydream
[can't remember the next part]

It's just the thought of you
the very thought of you
My love...

If anyone could tell me who does this and what it's called, I would be
SOOOO greatful!
Thanks in advance!

It was done by Nat King Cole and then his daughter Natalie did it on the
album Unforgettable. Here are the lyrics.

The Very Thought Of You

The very thought of you and I forget to do
The little ordinary things that everyone ought to do

I'm living in a kind of daydream

I'm happy as a king
And foolish though it may seem
To me that's everything

The mere idea of you, the longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above

It's just the thought of you

The very thought of you, my love

<instrumental interlude>

The mere idea of you, the longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above

It's just the thought of you

The very thought of you, my love

It's called " The Very Though of You", curiously enough <g>, and was
written by Ray Noble in 1934. It's a standard, so there's probably a
list a mile long of folks who've covered it.

I think it's called "The ver thought of you" and it's by NAt Kig Cole. His
daughter Natalie has a version too.

I don't think Charles Durning was really singing it. I think it was
on the radio anyway and he was just sort of mouthing along with it.

I didn't think the song was that old... anyone know the date for sure? I've
been wrong before; why I remember back in the winter of '61...

The name of the Nat King Cole album, as well as the song is "The Very Thought
of You". It is available on CD. It has a lot of very schmaltzy, romantic
songs on it including "For All We Know", one of my favorites.
