Days can be sunny with never a sigh,
Don't need what money can buy.
Birds in their trees sing their dayful of song;
Why shouldn't we sing along?
I'm chipper all the day, happy with my lot.
How do I get that way? Look at what I've got:
I got rhythm, I got music,
I got my man, who could ask for anything more?
I got daisies in green pastures,
I got my man, who could ask for anything more?
Old Man Trouble, I don't mind him,
You won't find him round my door.
I got starlight, I got sweet dreams,
I got my man, who could ask for anything more?
Who could ask for anything more?

>I GOT RHYTHM (Ira Gershwin/George Gershwin) (Artist: Happenings)
Now I'm not gripen' here, but just couldn't let this fly by without simply
saying... the Happenings version of "IGR"started with these spoken words:
(group) “In this fast and troubled world, we sometimes lose our way”
(Lead, sung) “But I am never lost, I feel this way because…”
(group) "Doot, doot , doot, etc."
The Happenings were produced by the Tokens (remember "Wimoweh", or "The Lion
Sleeps Tonight"? The Tokens had one of the greatest lead/falsetto singers of
all times, also Neil Sedaka was a founding member) and have sound similar to
the Tokens. The Happenings didn't sing the verse at all, just started with
the above and dived right into the chorus with the "I got rhythm..." part.
NOT a gripe now folks, just wanted to be accurate on one of the TOP TEN
RADIO SONGS of all time.
Sure would like to hear it again, haven't heard it since I was 12 years old
(44 looms, ominously). Is it the Happenings version that appears in the "Mr
Holland's Opus" movie?
Ray Crenshaw in SC (USA)
As for Ray's words, I remember theHappenings intro, too, although I always
thought it was "vast and troubled world" rather than "fast and troubled world."
All I have to say is sometimes what you remember is on the terribly obscure
side of the tracks.

These lyrics were transcribed from a RE-recording by The Happenings of their
original hit. I believe the lyrics are the same as the original but I don't
know that for certain.
I Got Rhythm
- Words by Ira Gershwin, Music by George Gershwin
- written in 1930 for the musical "Girl Crazy" starring Ginger Rogers
In this fast and troubled world
We sometimes lose our way
But I am never lost
I feel this way because...
I got rhythm, I got music
I got my girl
Who could ask for anything more?
I've got good times, no more bad times
I've got my girl
Who could ask for anything more?
Old man trouble (old man trouble)
I don't mind him (I don't mind him)
You won't find him 'round my door
I've got starlight (I've got starlight)
I've got sweet dreams (I've got sweet dreams)
I've got my girl
Who could ask for, who could ask for more?
----- instrumental break -----
Old man trouble (old man trouble)
I don't mind him (I don't mind him)
You won't find, you're never gonna find him 'round my door
Oh, I've got rhythm (hey! I've got rhythm)
I've got music (hey! I got music)
I got my girl
Who could ask for anything more?
In this fast and troubled world
I've got rhythm, I've got rhythm
I've got rhythm, I've got rhythm
I've got rhythm, I've got rhythm

Gee, that's a tough one. They sound so similar and both make sense in the
context they're used. I went with "fast" in my transcription but it could
just as easily be "vast".
