I am trying to find out who did "A Town Without Pity" I am not sure if that
is the name of the song or the movie. The song was also used in the movie
"Look Who's Talking". Kristy Ally was dancing to it in the kitchen. Can
anyone help me solve this problem? I would like to buy a CD that would have
this song on it. Also is there a copy of "Take Five" that anyone knows
about? I've heard pianist do this live but am not sure who(if anyone) has
recorded this. Thank for your help.

The song "Town Without Pity" was a *major* hit for the late, great
Gene Pitney back in the 60's. Is that the song you're thinking of?

Hi!

"Town Without Pity" was definitely done by Gene Pitney ... it was also the name
of a movie, but Gene's song was not used in the movie.

And, while Gene is definitely GREAT ... he is definitely NOT "late" ... he's
very much alive and still touring!! He just did a few weeks in the UK last
fall and is getting ready for more touring! :) Hope you'll be able to catch
one of his shows!!

By the way ... there are some wonderful greatest hits and two-fers of Gene's
work on CDs how ... available at almost any major music store.

ROCK ON!!

Gene Pitney is alive and well and living in Connecticut, btw. :) He posts to
the music boards on AOL frequently.

Town Without Pity
- Gene Pitney

When you're young and so in love as we
And bewildered by the world we see
Why do people hurt us so
Only those in love would know
What a town without pity can do
If we stop to gaze upon a star
People talk about how bad we are
Ours is not an easy age
We're like tigers in a cage
What a town without pity can do
The young have problems, many problems
We need an understanding heart
Why don't they help us, try and help us
Before this clay and granite planet falls apart
Take these eager lips and hold me fast
I'm afraid this kind of joy can't last
How can we keep love alive
How can anything survive
When these little minds tear you in two
What a town without pity can do
How can we keep love alive
How can anything survive
When these little minds tear you in two
What a town without pity can do
No, it isn't very pretty what a town without pity
Can do

"A Town Without Pity" by Gene Pitney.
"Take 5" by The Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Oops. Sorry! I *knew* better than this. Mr. Pitney is very much
alive and well, and I sincerely regret mixing him up, for some unknown
reason, with Roy Orbison, who was also great and is very definitely
"the late".

I know. I double checked before I posted this note.

Sigh. Nothing like making a dumb mistake in front of about
a bazillion readers to make you feel REAL humble.

Y'all can stop e-mailing me now, OK?

FYI...

The correct artist is Gene Pitney...
rather than Pittman (which was way it was
spelled in post I am responding to).
