Ain't No Sunshine

Here are the lyrics, but I would like to know who sang it...

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
and she's always gone too long
Anytime she goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gonna stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
and this house just ain't no home
anytime she goes away

And I know, I know...

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only darkness everyday
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
and this house just ain't no home
anytime she goes away
when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away

Thanks
Yves (Geneva)

Yves:

This was a Top 10 hit for Bill Withers back in the
Summer of 1971. Bill also recorded "Lean On Me",
and performed the vocals on the 1980 Grover Washington Jr.
song "Just The Two Of Us". I believe that "Ain't No
Sunshine" has been recorded by other artists as well.

etc....

There are 2
versions I know
of. one is by
Bill Withers. The
other is by a very
young Michael
Jackson. His
version starts
with spoken words
"you ever want
something that you
know you shouldn't
have..and then one
day you get it,
and it's so good
to you"....etc
then singing
"ain't no
sunshine..."

Hope that helps!

Yes I know Sidney Youngblood recorded it a few years ago.

Bill Withers wrote and recorded it. Little Michael Jackson also recorded
a cover of it on his solo album GOT TO BE THERE (circa 1972).

Bill Wither's version is one of my all-time favorite songs. Also check
out a song of his called "Use Me". Not sure what album it's from, but it
grooves!

Madolyn

I think 'Just the Two of Us' and 'Lovely Day' are some of those even better.
And who can forget 'Lean on Me'. Bill Withers kicks y'all.

An Australian artist named Deni Hines also released the above song last
year sometime...It may have been released under her band-name
"Rockmelons" though if it was earlier than that...I can't recall.
