Please mail me any songs and lyrics about a girl named Marianne.

There's one dutch (flemish) song by Norbert (written by Will Tura) of
which I'd love to have the lyrics.

Thanks

You might not want a song this...funky, but what immediatly came to
mind was:

"Mary Ann with the shaky hands,
What she does to a man... those shaky hands."

(...Something like that, by The WHO.) Also,

"Hey, Mary Ann, what's your game, now, can anybody play?"

Also,

"All day, all night, Miss Mary Ann. Down by the sea side, sifting
sand. All the little children love Mary Ann. Down by the sea side
sifting sand."

Anybody else know the rest of the lyrics to these?

There's a Sisters of Mercy song on the LP First and Last and Always, called
"Marian". I can't remember the words, though, I'm afraid.

There's a Leonard Cohen song called So Long, Marianne. You
can find it with a web search on Leonard Cohen lyrics. There's
also a Leonard Cohen song called Sisters of Mercy, interestingly
enough.

Well, there's Marian, by The Sisters Of Mercy. (It's on the album First And
Last And Always, which is >highly< recommended :) )

MARIAN (version)

In a sea of faces, in a sea of doubt
In this cruel place your voice above the maelstrom
In the wake of the ship of fools I'm falling further down
If you can see me, Marian, reach out and take me home.....

CHORUS

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the
Grave...
Marian

Marian, there's a weight above me
And the pressure is all too strong
To breathe deep
Breathe long and hard
To take the water down and go to sleep
To sink still further
Beneath the fatal wave
Marian I think I'm drowning
This sea is killing me

CHORUS

Was ich kann und was ich konnte (What I can do and what I could do)
Weiss ich gar nicht mehr (I just don't know anymore)
Gib mir wieder etwas schones (Give me something beautiful again)
Zieh mich aus dem meer (Drag me from the sea)
Ich hore dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Kannst du mich schreien horen (Can you hear me calling?)
Ich bin hier allien (I am here alone)
Ich hore dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Ohne diene hilfe verliere ich mich in diessem ort(Without your help I am lost
in this place)

CHORUS(repeat Marian til end)

There's a song about/entitled? Marianne, written by Leonard Cohen. He's
a poet as well as folk singer. You may be able to find his poetry books
in any bookstore, and they should have the words/lyrics to that song.

.....i remember b4 B0C concerts out on LI, 'missionaries' would drive
in from jersey and delaware to hand out 'contra-suicide-propaganda'

Has anyone mentioned 'More Than a Feeling' by Boston.
I think he says:

I came in in in the middle of the thread, so if someone mentioned this I
apologize, but there is a great song called Maryanne on Marshall
Crenshaw's self-titled first album. He's a fantastic power pop
performer/writer.

There's a song by a local German singing band called "Norbert & die
Feiglinge", as far as I remember, the name of the song is "Marianne",
even though this girl is not being sung about. It's a song about
other women, Annette, Luise, Brunhilde, and others. In case you're
interested, contact me.

Songtext:

Marian - The Cats

Where are the roses that I brought you, my love
Where are the poems that I wrote
You cast your eyes down when I watch you, my love
Have I been too long on the road

I came back to find a stranger in tears
She was once the girl I used to know, for some years
Marian, tell me you still care for me
Marian, remember how good those days used to be

Marian, or don't you with me

What kind of music fills your head now my love
What kind of grapes became your wine
You tried to find out 'bout your feelings my love
Were you ever thinking of mine

I came back to find a stranger in tears
She was once the girl I used to know, for some years
Marian, tell me you still care for me
Marian, remember how good those days used to be

Marian, or don't you with me

I came back to find a stranger in tears
She was once the girl I used to know, for some years
Marian, tell me you still care for me
Marian, remember how good those days used to be
