I have enough money to last me the rest of my life - unless I buy something.

If my memory serves me well, it was Jonathan Edwards who recorded this.

Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancin'
Some man's gone, he's tryin' to run my life
Don't know what he's askin'

(1) Well he tells me I'd better get in line
Can't hear what he's sayin'
When I grow up I'm gonna make it mine
These ain't dues I been payin'

How much does it cost, I'll buy it
The time is all we've lost, I'll try it
He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine, sunshine

Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancin'
Some man's gone, he's tryin' to run my life
Don't know what he's askin'

(2) Workin' starts to make me wonder where
Fruits of what I do are goin'
He says in love and war all is fair
But he's got cards he ain't showin'

How much does it cost, I'll buy it
The time is all we've lost, I'll try it
He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine, sunshine

(3) Sunshine come on back another day
I promise you I'll be singin'
This old world is gonna turn around
Brand new bells 'll be ringin'

Boy did this one get into my brain after reading your post!

I drove all my friends crazy with it and finally decided to take a
chance that The Lyrics Server would have it.A search for the
first line found it! Now I'm happy. So here it is:

Sunshine
Jonathan Edwards

Sunshine go away today,
I don't feel much like dancin'

Some man's gone, he's tried to run my life

Don't know what he's askin'

He tells me I'd better get in line

Can't hear what he's sayin'

When I grow up, I'm gonna make it mine

These ain't dues I been payin'

How much does it cost? I'll buy it.
The time is all we've lost. I'll try it.

He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine

Sunshine

Sunshine go away today,
I don't feel much like dancin'

Some man's gone, he's tried to run my life

Don't know what he's askin'

Working starts to make me wonder where
fruits of what I do are going

He says in love and war all is fair

He's got cards he ain't showin'

How much does it cost? I'll buy it.
The time is all we've lost. I'll try it.

He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine

Sunshine

Sunshine come on back another day
I promise you I'll be singin'

This old world she's gonna turn around
brand new bells'll be ringin'

I haven't heard this one in ages so can't confirm how
much of the above is accurate.Got it from here:

Honest, it's Jonathon Edwards. I swear. I saw him in a concert with
Carly Simon and Livingston Taylor in 1972 in Richmond, VA, and it is
really truly his own song !! The album/CD is titled "Jonathon Edwards",
and it has a brown cover and he is standing there, very tall and
skinny, but he has the most beautiful voice.... My favorite song on the
album is "Sometimes in the Morning".

Peace,

mildred
