I don't get on here much but I have a song going around in my head that
I need to know the artist who sang it:
"Oh where oh where could my baby be? The Lord took her away from
me..."

Any help would really be appreciated

About 10th time I've posted this horrendous song to this NG:

Last Kiss
- written by W. Cochran
- as recorded by J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers
in 1964 on Josie 923

Well, where oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me

She's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave-a this world

We were out on a date in my Daddy's car
We hadn't driven very far
There in the road straight ahead
The car was stalled, the engine was dead
I couldn't stop so I swerved to the right
Never forget the sound that night
The cryin' tires, the bustin' glass
The painful scream that I heard last

Well, where oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me

She's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave-a this world

Well, when I woke up the rain was pourin' down
There were people standing all around
Something warm a-running in my eyes
But I found my baby somehow that night
I raised her head and then she smiled and said
"Hold me darling for a little while"
I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss
I found the love that I knew I would miss
But now she's gone even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life that night

Well, where oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me

She's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave-a this world

Mmm-mm-mm-mm-mm, mmmm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm
Mmm-mm-mm-mm-mm, mmmm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm

The song is called "Last Kiss" not sure who sang it. I got these lyrics
from a friend a few years ago...I think they are pretty accurate.

"Last Kiss"

We were out on a date in my daddy's car Hadn't driven very far when there
was something in the road straight ahead. the car stalled, the engine was
dead. I couldn't stop so I swerved to the right I remember every sound that
night. Crying tires, broken glass, but I found my baby at last.
Chorus:
And I say where oh where can my baby be? The Lord took her away from me and
now she's gone to heaven so I gotta be good so I can see my baby when I
leave this world.

When I woke up the rain was pouring down, there were people standing all
around. Something warm running through my eye, but I found my baby that
night. I raised her head, she gave a smile and said hold me baby for a
little while. So I held her close, we kissed our last kiss. I found a love
that I knew I would miss.
Chorus (2x)

-Shannon

The song is called "Last Kiss," but for the life of me, I can't remember the
artist. Great song, though. Anyone else who can help?

The song is "Last Kiss" by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers, released in
1964. It's available on the Time-Life "Rock 'N' Roll Era series and
several other discs. If you search for the song at the CDNow Website
you'll find lots of CDs with the song. Hope this helps.
