Okay, who knows the name of the band that recorded that "Fire" song?
I mean the one that starts out with the guy proclaiming, "I am the god
of Hell fire ... and I bring you ... FIRE." And so on. It's a really old
band, and the name is something like The completely bizarre world of
[INSERT LEAD SINGER'S NAME HERE]. Anybody know who I mean? Even though
they're really old, they made a pre-video sort of thing to go with the
song, in which the lead singer appears in a metal mask, proto-Quiet
Riot. Thanks

That was THE CRAZY WORLD OF ARTHUR BROWN who had a hit with Fire in 1969/70
and then subjected the world with follow-up covers from famous groups.
If you like the singing style, check out Screaming Lord Sutch (he was
earlier still and had some interesting ideas on putting his songs in scene).

An aside, the drums you hear on Fire are played by Carl Palmer (that is why
I know that it must be very very early 1970, as in 1969, as in 1970 he
did his thing for Emerson, Lake & Palmer).

Sorry - no lyrics at hand - my record player is boxed away so I cannot
play the record (I have the song on a compilation).

Hope that is enough for you to find more in your local store
Wolfgang

The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown (Prodigy did a sort of cover of it - great
song!!!) My old art teacher was in that band and he was one of the keyboard
players (not very exciting fact really, and really quite a pissy attempt at
a claim to fame but there you go!!).
He used to tell me off all the time and said I was a chatterbox!!!
I've got it on compilation so I'll check it out at the weekend, and try to
send it to you (I can only get e-mail at the moment but can't bloody reply
to anyone - It won't let me read my e-mail, let alone reply!!).
Fingers crossed it'll be working after the weekend, and I'll send you what I
can hear from the record (very old!!).
Hope I will be of some help!!!

The song "FIRE" can also be found on Emerson Lake & Palmer's boxed set --
a very young Carl Palmer was the drummer on the Arthur Brown original
version.

And, if memory serves correctly, The Who also covered the song on the Iron
Man soundtrack.

My understanding is that although Carl played with CWAB for some time, it is
not he on the recording of "Fire." He does, however, appear on the
occasionally-seen video.

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown? I think that's the band...

The opinions expressed above are mine and mine alone. I've worked hard for
them and you can't have them.

co-rect.

it may be noteworthy that Prodigy has used the soundbite in their song
"Fire" which is otherwise very differant.
