hi group

the chorus includes
"Bang , Bang, - the (mighty?) fall - whoa, uh,uh,uh..."

A male singer, who I think may have been earlier known for a comic or spoof
type of record. Not much to go on I know......
thanks if you can give me a clue. Ian.

Ooooh that brings back some memories!
That was BA Robertson -
this from
http://home.planetinternet.be/~chrischa/Cellar_1.htm#BA%20Robertson

Brian Robertson (Glasgow, Scotland), debuted under the name of Brian
Alexander Robertson in 1973 with the album 'Wringing Applause'. This album
met an almost excessive hype on it's release, throwing Robertson literally
into the public eye. He survived the ensuing backlash from this surprise,
nonetheless, to secure an international deal with Asylum. On this label he
achieved three UK top 10 singles, being 'Bang Bang' and 'Knocked It Off' in
1979, and 'To Be Or Not To Be' in 1980.
He also appeared on 'Hold Me', a duet which he sang with Maggie Bell, and on
'We Have A Dream', when he fronted the 1982 Scotland World Cup Squad.
The following year Robertson teamed up with former Abba-member Frida, and a
minor hit; 'Time', came forth from this collaboration. From then on the
charts kept out of reach, as Robertson began to concentrate more and more on
a rewarding career as songwriter instead of releasing his own recordings. He
composed the theme tune to Wogan, a thrice-weekly chatshow on the British
BBC, and in his on-camera foolishness belies a considerable talent.
His solo-collection consists out of the following albums; 'Wringing
Applause', 'Initial Success'(1980), 'Bully For You'(1981), and B.A.
Robertson (1982).

He's also co-written for Mike and the Mechanics.

Sam :-)

Wow! That's B.A. Robertson. The song is called Bang Bang from his
breakthrough album Initial Success. I'll post the lyrics this evening when I
got home as I have the original vinyl with lyric sheet.

This is a fantastic song from a great album, though I think his next album
entitled Bully For You is even better. Anyway...

----------------------------

B.A. Robertson
Bang Bang (Britten / Robertson)
(from the 1980 album Initial Success)

The straight jacket of tru' luv's fine bang bang
If you're Houdini in your spare time bang bang
Lord Nel and Lady Hamilton they fought for love
When he come home from the war he give her what for love
The mighty fall when love has called bang bang

Vampire friends desire to lust fang fang
They fall on necks and fall in love pang pang
The Marquis de Sade was happy with a stroke of love
Sherlock Holmes alone preferred a little toke of love

Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang when love has called
Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang

Tony and Cleo struck out for the freeo down Egypt way
But Caesar had squeezed her in Rome on his quilt for a day - hey hey
Now Anthony got really angry
About old Caesar's hanky panky
She told them she would use 'em and boy did she abuse 'em
Fallen love had blew 'em away

Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang when love has called
Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang

And Sam and Delilah they both we should file under fool
'Cos when the temple start to crumble
Sammy for his comb did fumble
Life was in a ruin, she loved Johnny Fruin
Fallen love had blew 'em away

Bang bang when love has called
Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang when love has called
Bang bang

Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang when love has called
Bang bang the mighty fall
Bang bang
