Wow... That's like finding songs containing the word "baby!"

This is just off the top of my head:

The River - Bruce Springsteen
Rollin' on the River - CCR, Ike & Tina Turner, others
River Deep, Mountain High - Hmmmm???
New York State of Mind - Billy Joel ("I'm takin' a Greyhound on that
Hudson River line")
Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Some female Motown group, I forget
Meeting Across the River - Bruce Springsteen (off track from Born to Run)
Sugar Magnolia - The Grateful Dead ("rollin' in the rushes, down by the
riverside")
Uncle John's Band - The Grateful Dead ("Come hear Uncle John's Band by
the river side")
Time Passages - Al Stewart ("Night like a river, beginning to flow")
Boat on the River - Styx (off track from Cornerstone)
Water of Love - Dire Straits ("Someday baby when the river runs free /
It'll carry that water of love to me")
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits ("South of the river you stop and you
hold everything")
Down to the Waterline - Dire Straits ("When she's walkin' by the river or
the railway line")
Southbound Again - Dire Straits ("Every single time I roll across the
rolling River Tyne")

[wow, Dire Straits first album was a goldmine! <grin>]

The Rhythm of My Heart - Rod Stewart ("Across the street / the river runs")

I'm sure I'll eventually think of some more...

The song is called "Proud Mary," and please don't mention anyone other
than Creedence, please.

Also, there's "Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival as well.

imagine loving someone so much that you forgave them
for the wrong they did....always. no matter how many
times this person upset you, neglected you, or spit
in your face, you still had an unconceivable amount
of love for them. now, imagine dying for this person
who cursed and betrayed you. the person who lied on
you, the person who quit on you. how does it feel?
now imagine how Jesus feels. everyday, we all do one
or more of these things. however, everyday, He still
loves us deeply.

After seeing "Take Me to the River" mentioned many times on this thread,
I just have to see credit given where credit is due. The great
singer/writer Al Green wrote and recorded THE version of "Take Me to the
River". Both Talking Heads and Commitments do good versions, though.

More river songs:

Peter Gabriel - "Don't Give Up"

Bonnie Raitt - "River of Tears" (from one of her early albums, maybe
"Home Plate"?)
