There is a song I used to hear on the oldies station, and I want to know
what the name of it is and who sang it so I can see if it exists on OLGA
because I think it would be great to play on guitar.

The beginning of the song goes SOMETHING like this:

Sunshine go away today
Don't feel much like dancing
The sandman's(?) come.
He's trying to run my life
Don't know what he's asking.

The bridge of the song goes like this:

How much does it cost?
I'll buy it
If time is all we've lost
I'll try it
He can barely run his own life
I'll be damned if he'll run mine.

Someone will know for sure, but I think it is Cat Stevens.

The song is called Sunshine. Here are the lyrics:

Sunshine Jonathan Edwards

Sunshine go away today,
I don't feel much like dancin'
Some man's gone, he's tried to run my life
Don't know what he's askin'

He tells me I'd better get in line
Can't hear what he's sayin'
When I grow up, I'm gonna make it mine
These ain't dues I been payin'

How much does it cost? I'll buy it.
The time is all we've lost. I'll try it.
He can't even run his own life,

I'll be damned if he'll run mine

Sunshine

Sunshine go away today,
I don't feel much like dancin'
Some man's gone, he's tried to run my life
Don't know what he's askin'

Working starts to make me wonder where
fruits of what I do are going
He says in love and war all is fair
He's got cards he ain't showin'

How much does it cost? I'll buy it.
The time is all we've lost. I'll try it.
He can't even run his own life,

I'll be damned if he'll run mine

Sunshine

Sunshine come on back another day
I promise you I'll be singin'
This old world she's gonna turn around
brand new bells'll be ringin'

Sunshine by Jonathan Edwards was release on the Capricorn label in late 1971.
It earned him a gold record. A one hit wonder.

There's also a pretty awesome cover of it by Paul Westerberg on the
Friends Soundtrack. :)

Here goes - this is totally from memory, so probably not be 100%
accurate. Now that I read the lyrics, it sure doesn't make a lot of
sense, does it?

Hey, maybe a one hit wonder to YOU because you only knew of one hit. He
had (still has) a pretty good following in the 'off the radio'
clubs...songs like 'Shanty", "Emma", and "Athens county" were standards
of all sorts of coffeeshop wannabes in New England. I last saw him
doing a live show in Brunswick, Maine about 10 yrs ago, and everybody
knew him, and his songs. He's great. Just non-commercial.
