Has anybody seen any song lyrics that are surprisingly similar to the
situation at the White House? There were a couple songs that caught my
eye. "Into Temptation" by Crowded House and "Warm Fuzzy Feeling" by
Fastball could both be interpreted in that way....

Into Temptation
Temple of Low Men
Crowded House

You opened up your door
I couldn't believe my luck
You in your new blue dress
Taking away my breath
The cradle is soft and warm
Couldn't do me no harm
You're showing me how to give

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation

In a muddle of nervous words
Could never amount to betrayal
The sentence is all my own
The price to watch it fail
As I turn to go
You looked at me for half a second
An open invitation for me to go

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation
Safe in the wide open arms of hell

We can go sailing in
Climb down, lose yourself when you linger long
Into temptation
Right where you belong

The guilty get no sleep
In the last slow hours of morning
Experience is cheap
I should've listened to the warning
But the cradle is soft and warm

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into your wide open arms
No way to break this spell
Don't tell

**********

Warm Fuzzy Feeling
All the Pain Money Can Buy
"Fastball"

I got a warm fuzzy feeling
When I saw you on TV
You were wearing a piece of me
And it breaks my heart to look around
And see the unimpressed
Who can't believe the emperor is dressed

Turn on my TV
I want to check some action
If you got no video
Well then folks don't wanna know
But with you up there to light the way
I can wear a smile as I survey
The faces in the dark
Waiting for you to hit one out of the park

We notice every tiny little detail
Every word we read we'll take to heart
But we never really understand
Until we realize
There are no lies
When you see that look in their eyes

What are we gonna use to fill the empty space
When you see her in the crowd...
Will you make your mama proud?
She can turn around and see the faces
Staring at her son
Climbing his way up to #1

I've dug up the following from http:/www.yall.com:

To the tune of "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by Sting

First Draft -
(the first verse is gross)

Powerful president, the subject
of intern fantasy
She wants him so badly
Knows what she wants to be
Inside her there's longing
This girl's a White House page
She spits and she swallows
This girl is half his age.

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

Her friends are so jealous
You know that Linda Tripp
Sometimes it's not so easy
To be the Bill Clinton's pet
Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him lie
Kenneth Starr and Paula Jones
Will hang him out to dry

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

Loose talk in the newsroom
"Impeach him" they cry and cry
Strong words in the White House
The accusations fly
State of the Union
He starts to quake and cuss
Just like the southern president in
That book by Anonymous
(Primary Colors)

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

So what is the first verse? Just as loud and twice as worse?!

>Powerful president, the subject

>She wants him so badly

Now, if there is going to be an MTV video that closely follows the one
with the Police in it, how many of you noticed the misspelling on the
chalkboard behind "Sting" in the original?

Maybe the Prez should be portrayed with a chalkboard behind him explaining
how "E Pluribus Unum" somehow means "Out of One there are Many" (Ex Uno
Complures) --- I mean, so long as the lampooning is going to go the *video*
route in addition to the musical route...
