Hi music memory experts!

Anyone know the correct lyrics to "Loving Arms". This song was (I
believe) originally done by Dobie Gray, later covered by Elvis. Who
wrote it? Hint: Lyrics in the www.lyrics.ch database I believe are
incomplete. This is NOT the song "Your Loving Arms" by Billie Ray
Martin.

TIA.

Never heard of it BUT my book says you're right on the Dobie Gray--he
debuted it on 8/4/73 and peaked at # 61. Kris Kristofferson and Rita
Coolidge debuted it about 7 months later, on 3/23/74 and peaked at # 86.
Here's what ASCAP says about the writer:

I found this one in my database.
Hope it helps.

Loving arms

If you could see me now
The one who said that he would rather roam
The one who said he'd rather be alone
If you could only see me now

If I could hold you now
Just for a moment, if I could really make you mine
Just for a while turn back the hands of time
If I could only hold you now

'Cause I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Takin' any comfort that I can
Looking back and longing for
the freedom of my chains
And lying in your lovin' arms again

If you could hear me now
Singin' somewhere in the lonely night
Dreaming of the arms that hold me tight
If you could only hear me now

'Cause I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Takin' any comfort that I can
Looking back and longing for the freedom of my chains
And lying in your lovin' arms again

I can almost feel your lovin' arms again.

Loving Arms was done by Journey.

Loving Arms
Journey
Escape, Greatest Hits

Lying beside you
Here in the dark
Feeling your heart beat with mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere
How could our love be so blind?

We sail on together
We drifted apart
And here you are by my side

So now I come to you with Open Arms
Nothing to hide, believe what I say
So here I am, with Open Arms
Hoping you'll see what your love means to me,
Open Arms

Living without you
Living alone
This empty house feels so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I want you home

But now that you've come back, turned night into day
I need you to stay

So now I come to you with Open Arms
Nothing to hid, believe what I say
So here I am with Open Arms
Hoping you'll see what your love means to me
Open Arms

I do believe poster Collins has the wrong song--after all, there ARE
more than one song with the exact same title. I shoulda picked up on
your clue the first time re a cover by Elvis. Here's what they show at
an Elvis site (and notice that the writer agrees with what I already
told you.) These words do not match his Journey song at all.

I think the Loving Ams you might be looking for go as follows....

If you could see me now

The one who said that he rather roam

The one who said he'd rather be alone
If you could only see me now

If I could hold you now

Just for a moment if I could make you mine

Just for a while turn back the hands of time
If I could only hold you now

I've been too long in the wind

Too long in the rain

Taking any comfort that I can

Looking back and longing for the freedom of my chains

Lying in your loving arms again

If you could hear me now

Singing somewhre through a lonely night
Dreaming of the arms that held me tight

If you could only hear me now

I've been too long in the wind

Too long in the rain

Taking any comfort that I can

Looking back and longing for the freedom of my chains

Lying in your loving arms again
