For the first time we have no single winner. The Dutch Officials have to
share pride with The Usual Suspects from Singapore who debuted at my
quiz with an awesome early entry. Congratulations to all of you folks!
Well, this is one of the things I'm most proud of: This whole thing
turned out to be a real world-wide competition. Though I couldn't
properly locate all of my contestants' e-mail adresses there were at
least confirmed entries from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada,
England, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Singapore, USA and Wales
coming through. If you entered from another country please tell me so.
You can also view this at my web site at
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/4321 where for the first
time I attached some links to the answers next to the performers' names
and song titles.

Answers:
[Pack 1]
[a] No stop sign, speed limit,
Nobody's gonna slow me down
AC/DC: Highway To Hell
(Artist: correct 16 / incorrect 2 / not answered 27)
(Title: 16 / 3 / 26)
[b] We are no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
RICK ASTLEY: Never Gonna Give You Up
(A: 17 / 2 / 26) (T: 16 / 2 / 27)
[c] I swear I didn't know that .45 was loaded
In fact my memory ain't to clear
AEROSMITH: Hangman Jury
(A: 11 / 2 / 32) (T: 9 / 3 / 33)
[Pack 2]
[a] I think that any love is good lovin'
So I took what I could get
BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVE: You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet
(A: 34 / 2 / 9) (T: 35 / 1 / 9)
The hint said: none of the artists in this pack is from either th U.S.
or Great Britain. So here's the first one: BACHMAN TURNER OVERWEIGHT (as
one of the teams entered) from Canada
[b] Got the music loud and women warm
I've been kicked around since I was born
BEE GEES: Stayin' Alive
(A: 10/ 2 / 33) (T: 9 / 3 / 33)
HA! That's what I ecpected. This sounds more like Dio or Judas Priest
than the Bee Gees (from Australia)
[c] Some things don't look to me
Like they used to be, no!
DARYL BRAITHWAITE: As The Days Go By
(A: 1 / 5 / 39) (T: 1 / 3 / 41)
One of the toughest questions as Daryl Braithwaite (formerly of Sherbet
a.k.a. The Sherbs a.k.a. Highway) never really made it big outside his
home (Australia.) Only double bonus in this competition goes to Rob
Parker (from Australia, of course).
[Pack 3]
[a] She cries alone at night too often
He smokes and drinks and don't come home at all
ALICE COOPER: Only Women Bleed
(19 / 1 / 25)
[b] Why you look so sad
When the sky is perfect blue
TONI CHILDS: Stop Your Fussin'
(3/ 4 / 38)
Once again I apologize for the mistake in the original hint. Of course
there was a South African artist (Manfred Mann) in my previous quiz and
of course Toni Childs is American. Couldn't fool The Usual Suspects, The
Dutch Officials and Pinky & The Brain though.
[c] She didn't have to leave me, she didn't have to run
She didn't have to go without a word to anyone
CHILLIWACK: My Girl
(5 / 1 / 39)
One of my all-time favorites. I seem to share this with The Dutch
Officials, Laura & Rick, Pat Kelly, Aaron Humphrey and the Vibe Man
[Pack 4]
[a] We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
EAGLES: Hotel California
(41 / 0 / 4)
[b] Soon the Gypsy Queen in a glaze of Vaseline
Will perform on guillotine. What a scene! What a scene!
EMERSON LAKE & PALMER: Karn Evil 9 (1st Impression - Part 2)
(A: 29 / 2 / 14) (T: 23 / 6 / 16)
Yet another recognisable song with an odd title that doesn't match the
words too well ;)
[c] It's either this or that way
It's one way or the other
ENYA: Anywhere Is
(A: 4 / 3 / 38) (T: 4 / 2 / 39)
Let's name the foursome: The "I Love Abstracts"-Team, Rob Parker, The
Aural Retentives and Robert Baker-Self (who by the way recently posted
one of the toughest quizzes I've ever come across).
[Pack 5]
[a] If the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
HEART: Barracuda
(A: 11 / 4 / 30) (T: 11 / 2 / 32)
So that was the fish hint ;)
[b] Too proud to make up you're ready to break up
Too late you wake up and love walks out the door
GRAYSON HUGH: Talk It Over
(A: 3 / 5 / 37) (T: 5 / 2 / 38)
The other way round: Recognisable song with almost lost artist. The
complete answers came from The Usual Suspects, Pinky & The Brain and The
Royall Park Gang.
[c] Sunday morning 9 a.m
I saw fire in the sky
SAMMY HAGAR: Eagles Fly
(5 / 1 / 39)
So these are the 5 Sammy fans: The Usual Suspects, Wendy Beard, The
Simon Parsons Project, The Pete Rauch Experience and Mr Know-it-all.
[Pack 6]
[a] Closed the shop, sold the house
Bought a ticket to the west coast
BILLY JOEL: My Life
(A: 28 / 0 / 17) (T: 27 / 1 / 17)
[b] Death's head belt buckle, yesterday's dreams
The transport caf' prophet of doom
JETHRO TULL: Too Old To Rock'n'Roll: Too Yound To Die
(7 / 2 / 36)
[c] We all share the air we breathe
Let's be proud of what we leave
JUST.IF.I: All One People
(0 / 2 / 43)
OK, I surrender! This one was too tough. Just.If.I. was a project set
up by Loverboy's Mike Reno including Journey's Neal Schon on guitar.
Didn't even ring a bell for the Canadian contestants...
[Pack 7]
[a] Don't need a gun to blow your mind
Oh no! Oh no!
JOHN LENNON: Whatever Gets You Thru The Night
(A: 9 / 1 / 35) (T: 7 / 1 / 37)
HEY! WHATS UP? John Winston Ono Lennon!!! Remember him?
[b] Sing out Hare Hare, dance the Hoochie Koo
City lights are oh so bright, as we go on sliding (sliding, sliding)
through
LED ZEPPELIN: The Song Remains The Same
(A: 14 / 1 / 30) (T: 13 / 1 / 31)
[c] That fossil fuel's got no renewal
You know it couldn't hold a candle
LITTLE VILLAGE: Solar Sex Panel
(3 / 2 / 40)
Little Village is John Hiatt, Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner (the
same guys who recorded Hiatt's landmark album "Bring The Family"). Go
get this album unless you're amongst the following: The Dutch Officials,
Pinky & The Brain and The Davitt & Hanser Gang.
[Pack 8]
[a] Another version of me, is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theatre?
ALANIS MORISSETTE: You Oughta Know
(A: 36 / 1 / 8) (T: 35 / 2 / 8)
Canadian, just to reveal the hint.
[b] Johnny play guitar, Jenny play bass
The name of the band is The Human Race
MEN WITHOUT HATS: Pop Goes The World
(A: 16 / 2 / 27) (T: 18 / 1 / 26)
Sorry for misquoting the words in the initial posting. But most of you
proved it was recognisable anyway. (Canadian act, too).
[c] She's gonna build me up just to tear me down
Slap my knee bones to the ground
IAN MOSS: Tucker's Daughter
(2 / 3 / 40)
Ian Moss (ex Cold Chisel guitar player) from Australia only recognised
by The Usual Suspects and Rob Parker.
[Pack 9]
[a] Something deep inside of me
Wants to love you endlessly
MAXI PRIEST: Close To You
(A: 3 / 3 / 39) (T: 3 / 1 / 41)
I see you didn't expect Maxi Priest to show up in my quiz. Anyway The
Usual Suspects, Pinky & The Brain and Wendy Beard did.
[b] You say our love is running one way
Coming from your side
Ph.D.: I Won't Let You Down
(5 / 1 / 39)
A big round of applause to: The Ususal Suspects, The Dutch Officials,
STP, The Simon Parsons Project and The Irish Gang.
[c] Like Icarus we flew too high
Flew too near the sun
PROCOL HARUM: Nothing But The Truth
(A: 13 / 1 / 31) (T: 6 / 2 / 37)
seems at least this hint was helpful ;)
[Pack 10]
[a] Where is my wife and family, what if I die here?
Who'll be my role model now that my role model has gone?
PAUL SIMON: You Can Call Me Al
(38 / 2 / 5)
Once again sorry for misquoting this one.
[b] I said, 'Wait a minute man, who do you think I am?"
He answered, "Mister Springsteen, you're the finest man"
RICK SPRINGFIELD: Bruce
(A: 10 / 10 / 25) (T: 6 / 3 / 36)
Many entries considered Bruce Springsteen to be the artist. In fact
it's Rick Springfield complaining about always being mistaken with the
Boss.
[c] Little Orphan Cindy changed her name to Scarlet Hood
Then flew from Fort Worth Texas to a place called Hollywood
SNIFF 'N' THE TEARS: Rodeo Drive
( 0 / 3 / 42)
I didn't expect this one to be *that* tough. Not even the hint with the
lead singer (Paul Roberts) painting all their album covers was of any
help.
That's it.
New quiz to be posted in a moment.
See you later
