Please excuse my posting in English:

Does anyone know _another_ song called la Paloma Azul (Spanish/Mexican), not
the one by Cesar Chavez, but the one that the Brubecks have recorded a few
times? The song I am looking for is in habanera rhythm, with the lyrics
beginning: "Ya me voy para Laredo, mi bien/Te vengo a decir adios".

I have lyrics to 2 stanzas (in Spanish) from a CD. But I wonder if there
are more verses, or a singable English translation. It is listed on the CD
as
"Trad." but I have so far found no references to it on the web. It would
also be interesting to know a little more about it.

It is such a beautiful tune that I just want more words to keep the song
going longer! On the other hand, perhaps the two short verses say all that
can be said about the ending of love.

First of all, his name is CARLOS Chavez. Cesar Chavez was a Mexican-American activist in the mid-1900s.

Secondly, the lyrics you gave are indeed from Sr. Chavez's version. Dave Brubeck's "La Paloma Azul" is a jazz piece written for the piano.

Don't know what you're really looking for but you're all backwards.
