[I have a very soft spot for the singer and the song]

Dear Screaming Lord Sutch or whatever your real name is
Further to the good advice given to you by Dan
You really owe it to yourself before it is too late to see Gord in
concert again.
It is generally agreed that the very best place to do this is in the
House Of Gord a.k.a. Massey Hall
in Toronto.for countless years Gordon has played a season there
every 18 months and said on the final night last May words to the
effect that if he is still standing he'd see us again in 18 months.
That is the only hint so far of the 2009 tour plans except that
bearing in mind that the equipment that accompanies Gord on tour is
pretty voluminous and that he apparently does not like long plane
trips any more because of the no smoking rules, then despite the
attempts by several fans myself included to persuade him to do a UK/
European tour the chances are exceedingly slim
In my own case I well remember emailing Wayne Francis of http://www.lightfoot.ca
( who founded this Newsgroup) in 1997 that "before he and I got too
old" I would have to go to Toronto myself.
this I did in 1999 and all subsequent Massey seasons (2001,2005,2006
and 2008) have breen supremely enjoyable in fact quite a number of
UK or Irish fans have braved the Atlantic each year., this past May
in fact one of the UK regulars (Paul from Norwich) bumped into a fan
from Swansea right outside Massey Hall and he joined the group,
including being with us for one of the highlights this year, a well
attended jam session at McVeigh's Pub which happens to be Irish and is
just around the corner from Massey.

Ad try hard not to "roll over" for 16 months or so!
The main factor is, of course, money. In short, by the time he flew 4-8 of
us over there plus hotels, there was no money. Record promotion was the
raison d'etre.
Equipment, except for instruments, was never an issue then--nor would it be
today. The local promoters supplied it all. (remember the voltage/phase
differences between Canada and the UK) In the 1981 tour, the same sound &
lighting people
went with us for the entire tour, save Royal Albert, where we used house
sound.
