Top 10 Reasons Jews Were Not Offended By Jimmy's Nazi Outfit

by kB (German) and Joe C. Hecht (German??) and Denis Leary (Irish)

10. Because Jimmy had coke then. If Hitler had coke there would be Jews
lined up in the bathroom saying "I know you didn't do it" <snort> "I like
your mustache!" <snort> "Friggin' Himmler!" <snort>.

9. Because any Jew who ever saw him in the outfit was either even more
messed up on drugs than he was, the show promoter or Zeppelin publicist

8. Because Nazis were the reason they got Israel back.

7. Led Zeppelin had anti-Christian messages hidden on their records.

6. Because it was only a reproduction outfit.

5. Because it was an original outfit sold to Page by a Jewish owned "Nazi
Outfits For Rock Stars" store.

4. They knew better than to take someone seriously who is surrounded by bell
bottoms that go 20 feet straight out with homeless people living under them.

3. Peter Grant made the Nazi outfit sign letter of indemnification absolving
Jimmy from being the reason of any offense that may or may not have been
taken.

2. Because Jimmy had his fingers crossed the whole time instead of having a
broken finger like he claimed.

1. Because Jimmy Page is Jimmy Page and he's cool and he can do whatever the
friggin' hell he wants to do!! End of Friggin' List!!!

That took a lot of thought to reason, and a lot of
guts to say it. I'm not opposed to free thinking,
and certainly not opposed to seeing the bright side
either. I never really thought of it that way, and
will never forget it either.

10 reasons not to read the original post of this thread : 1) it's STUPID
2) see above
3) see #1
and so on, and so on, and so on, etc...

Sorry to offend anyone or be a party pooper, but some things are too
senselessly dumb to ignore. I have to say that I didn't actually READ the
entire original post, but the same goes for me with any of KB's posts.... they
just don't do a thing for me and are a complete waste of time to (almost)
anyone but him....

gotta disagree here

KB's humor is enjoyable. He pushes the limit sometimes, but that's what humor
is about. And the Nazi/Isreal link is thought provoking.

I miss the days where I was able to joke about molesting children. Now, because
there are idiots that actually do these things, it ruins the joke.

When the absurd is no longer the absurd, it's absurd.

It wasn't meant to upset anyone. I imagine some people would be offended but
they shouldn't wear their feelings on their sleeve. It was just absurd
reasoning. And to point out now, on the one about being more messed up on
drugs than Jimmy that meant any Jewish person in the audience would be a fan
and so they were probably on something as well as everyone else. Not them in
particular. and i know not every fan from that time did drugs either. But I
have to exagerate things to make these worthwhile to read. I think and hope
everyone understands that.

Dontcha just think it's, like, really stupid when Jew get upset by
anti-Semitism? I mean, one little Holocaust and they're all up in arms! Geez!
Can't they take a joke!?

Yeah, we're real grateful to Hitler for getting us back to Israel. That was
mighty white of him. He's listed as a righteous gentile in the scrolls of the
Elders of Zion. Right along with you, KB.

Next year in Jerusalem, Bennyboy. You might want to visit it sometime. Take a
look at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum. Then get back to me.

Enjoy.

Laughter is like music to the weary soul.
It fills the deep trenches, the dreary holes of despair.
It is like oxygen is to air.
If it was in the wind and everywhere,
we'd live to be one thousand and be like children.
But, the blue meanies are here.
The blue meanies are everywhere.
They grimace and growl and despise the fair sound of merriment and cheer.
Where oh where are the jesters who dispense like medicine,
the essence of happiness and make our sad faces grin?
Long live the King.

To be fair (and honest) I'm really not sure it is intended
to be a NAZI "suit". Perhaps it was intended to be more
"WWI-ish".

In any case, Shayna is probably going to have a fit when
she gets back and see this thread. Perhaps we should get

Jimmy wore Nazi outfit. Most Jews weren't offended based on who I've talked
to about it. Why weren't they offended? Several reasons. That's a serious
topic of discussion. and worthwhile in my opinion. I just made up stuff at
the top of my head. I asked myself "What would be some *ridiculous* reasons
for the Jewish not to be offended by that. "Ridiculous" also means UNTRUE.
What I wrote was of course untrue. Coming up with an untrue statement to be
presented *AS* untrue doesn't make me anti-semitic. I'm not. Maybe guilty of
something else but not anti-semitic. If I would of known it would of upset
you I wouldn't of posted it. I didn't think anyone would but I was wrong.
FWIW, I'll be more careful from now on.

Shayna has the best sense of humor of anyone I can think of Joe. As another
Jewess, I can't speak for her, but, I hate being so picky about what I can and
can't say in cyberspace, you know?
I think Jimmy wore what I recognize as clearly an authentic WWII uniform of the
Stormtroopers, without any more controversy. He wore it to be Jimmy, like it
or hate it. He's about the music. Love him for his gift, not his weird sense
of humor.
That's just him as a young man. He just wears black now. He's repented? Who
cares?

KB, stop defending yourself. You don't have to. You have nothing to be
sorry about. The worst crime would be to forget or ignore that the
holocaust ever happened. I'm Jewish, and I have no problem with anything
you said. This country is slowly becoming so fucking uptight that no one
can truly risk opening their mouth any more. Also, every one gets so upset
when anyone assaults their own ethnic/social/religious background, but
doesn't bother to say anything when someone else's background is slandered.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who raises their voice in protest to one
slur while keeping quiet to another is racist or bigoted. Their partial
silence is tantamount to acceptance, and that's just not OK. I'm sure that
anyone with a semblance of intelligence understood that you were only trying
to add a little levity to the everyday drudgery of our existences. To
paraphrase a quote from "the practice", anyone who was up in arms about your
top ten list is not underestimating your intelligence, they are assuming
that you don't have any. If anyone wants to be upset at KB, why don't you
all be upset at me instead, a Jewish guy with a disturbed sense of humor?
Here's the disturbed Jewish joke of the day: What's the difference betweeen
a Jew and a pizza? A: A pizza doesn't scream when you put it in the oven.
Don't you all see that KB is not promoting hatred? He is promoting humor,
the greatest salve we have (hey, that rhymes!) I hope that you will all now
forgive me for that rant. Peace and love to all.

No, what has gotten ridiculous is that in a free form forum of Led Zeppelin
fans, there are those that instead of sticking to the mucho, ad nauseum,
numerous, numbingly boring posts about Seattle '78, Robert's genitals, etc.,
they feel compelled to self-righteously declare their indignation towards
anyone who is a creative person in the spirit of Jimmy, Robbie, Jonesy and
Bonham.

Listen Christopher, I don't care to declare a war on you, but, you have decided
that you should moderate the opinions of a wide and varied group of music fans.

Led Zeppelin is not a functional band anymore, or am I missing something?
Page/Plant are not touring and the men have virtually disappeared. Is this
nothing more than a trading post of posts for old boots and tapes? Do you
really believe that would be interesting to everyone?

For your information, kB and me are true Led Zeppelin fans, for a lot longer
than you. We both are guitarists. We both love satire.
We obviously love Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
Why do you feel compelled to believe that *WE* are the *TROLLS*?
The spirit of Led Zeppelin was a creative one. I perceive in Robert and Jimmy
exquisite senses of humor. I think you're missing something, I feel sorry that
you are so politically correct, and humorless in every way.

If you have an opinion about things, fine, share it here. But, you have
decided that it is okay to moderate the serious nature of this oh, so serious
group. It is not a moderated group, ok? I have already requested Newsmaster
for a new group, so creative and happy fans of Led Zeppelin can meet and laugh
in a cheerful waffle house without constant flame war and persecution by mean
people.

3 or 4 years ago I had a band where i played guitar and did some of the
vocals. Songs such as Ebony And Ivory are "positive" race relation songs. I
came up with an idea to do it in a backward sort of a way. I got this black
guy to duet with me on this song. Only difference is that we screamed at the
top of our lungs to a punk/hardcore style with a groove. And the lyrics were
us taking turns screaming at each other using every racist name we could
think of. We thought we were being radical and it turned out great. It was
pretty intense when we actually recorded it. We knew we were both pretending
but there was more under the surface than met the eye. It was good therapy
for us both. We had eye contact the whole time we was recording it and it
was one of the most intense feelings I ever had. Like is this real or not?
It was funny to play the song for someone because I had the first vocal turn
and people would look at me like I was Hitler himself. Then when the black
guy's turn came they started to figure it out and now all of a sudden i'm
cool again in their eyes. heh heh

OK, I'm gonna chime in once more and then leave this thread.

Expressing outrage at offensive material is not necessarily "being PC," which
is now the orthodox backlash cry. It's so easy to cry "PC" and let slip the
dogs of bigotry, it keeps you from having to actually consider that there
might, just might be something wrong with what has been said, it keeps you from
having to examine your own attitudes or think about what it must be like for
others.

There are, of course, many ridiculous instances of PC-ness that are little more
than thought-free knee-jerk reactions that end up entirely missing the
point--removing "Huckleberry Finn" from libraries because Twain uses the N-word
strikes me as a prime example. But to automatically label any protest at all
as PC is just as knee-jerk.

Besides, I loathe politics.

Racist humor is still racist. In my mind, the former outweighs the latter.
There's plenty of stuff in the world to laught at without picking on people.

As for the charges of being humorless and/or unintelligent, my record on this
NG will have to speak for itself. To label me as a humorless dimwit is to
entirely ignore ample evidence of a highly developed sense of humor--and not a
particularly squeamish one either. And I am not pluming myself but just
stating a fact when I lay claim to considerably more than a modicum of
intelligence.

As for the charge of only speaking up in defense of my own "people," this is
also false. I have spoken up before, both on and off the NG, about all kinds
of stuff, in defense of all kinds of people, and will undoubtedly do so again
as long as some people prejudice funny and get their giggles and sense of worth
by kicking others.

On a side note, some nice folks rushed to Shayna's defense about how funny she
would have found this. Interestingly, Shayna and I have been emailing back and
forth on this subject, and basically she expressed the opinion that she, too,
found it deeply un-funny for the same reasons I did.

Naturally, you are all free to disagree with me. I have no problem with
different opinions. I do have a problem with prejudice, cloaked in alleged
humor or otherwise.

You expressed yourself very well concerning this and I also apologize for
pulling out my soapbox and proclaiming all my spiel. Of course, it is not
being PC to have an honest opinion, it is well within your civil rights in a
free society to express those.

I was originally responding to someone who was attacking kB and it rubbed me
the wrong way. But, everyone is entitled to their own choices. Sorry if I, in
turn, rubbed people the wrong way. I've got to lose that darn soap box,

I, too, thought the attack on kb was worth defending. I took kb's humor as just
that. If taken by itself, the post is horrible. But when taken as another
piece of work by kb where he does show type of prejudice, and is usually filled
with wit, it is an interesting post. Sometimes people don't get why some people
can tell 'bad' jokes, and others can. It usually stems from what's in the
heart. Or to bring it back to music, Michael Bolton can't sing the blues.

And I still find the comment about 'the reason they have Israel' as thought
provoking. Sick, but still provoking.

Is that what everyone on the ng who disagrees with you is doing? Unleashing
dogs of bigotry. Not analyzing in their mind what has been said by me. But
what if someone finds fault with what you say? Why would they not analyze
what I say but analyze what you say? Do you know why you can't answer that

>Racist humor is still racist.

I don't find anything "humorous" about anything racist. I'm surprised that
you do.

In my mind, the former outweighs the latter.

For that to happen you would have to find the joke funny. The funnier you
thought it was then the more it would weigh in your mind. Speaking for
myself, racism is racism.

>There's plenty of stuff in the world to laught at without picking on
people.
>As for the charges of being humorless and/or unintelligent, my record on

You an intelligent poster with a sense of humor? NG records alone don't mean
crap. A person's whole life up to the present is what he or she is.

To label me as a humorless dimwit is to
>entirely ignore ample evidence of a highly developed sense of humor

Why are you so special that you can ignore evidence and no one else can. How
come you can label me a humorless racist and "entirely ignore ample evidence
of a highly developed sense of" non racist ideas and attitudes? Because you
feel that you're different and different "rules of judgement" apply to you,
that's why. That's how we're different. You think I'm being racist and so
you call me racist while ignoring evidence to the contrary. I think you're
being a humorless dimwit but I won't call you that because I haven't
examined the evidence to decide rather or not you are.

--and not a
>particularly squeamish one either. And I am not pluming myself but just
>stating a fact when I lay claim to considerably more than a modicum of

For someone who is claiming to be defending themselves on charges you sure
aren't doing very well. When on "trial" (as you are pretending) it is best
not to brag about how intelligent you are. A. Judges and jurors don't
usually like braggarts B. a defendant who were to say that he was
"intelligent" can be viewed by the jury as someone who could be wise enough
to cover their guilty tracks.

I usually just kick people with a "Kick Me" sign on their back. They should

If you laugh then it's funny. If you don't laugh then it's not funny.
Needing to have "reasons" to be able to find something unfunny is a sad. Not
to mention funny, too. Sad and funny...like a clown.

>
>Naturally, you are all free to disagree with me. I have no problem with

There are two types of "problems". Real and imagined. Each with their own
unique solutions. Real problems demand real solutions. Imaginary problems
demand imaginary solutions. You have incorrectly assumed something to be
real and it is not. Everything you build upon it no matter how good it
sounds is only in your imagination. You should take an imaginary
sledgehammer and knock down this imaginary wall you have put around you so
you can see and be truly free. I can't do it for you since my sledgehammer
is real. (no pun intended)

Ludi here, sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, as usual....and
stating *my* opinion on something which may not be the same as what LDuper
meant.

I thought it sounded more like "wanted to express my opinion, but don't want

And, just out of curiosity, how did you come to the conclusion that this is

I don't want an argument either. Since her opinion included her opinion on
me of which I very strongly disagree with I wanted people who read her post
to read my response so that they would know that I disagree. So my post was
my opinion on her opinion. It seemed fair to do that. That's all.

Because she did it in her first post. And then she stated in her opening

avoiding responsibilities in my opinion.

I feel like I needed to, as a Jewish gal, who joined in on the soapbox drama,
putting out my four cents on why I don't like being PC, etc. And I wrote a
thread opener about Jimmy being the fuhrer. I felt afterwards thatit was in
poor taste and it may have fueled more bad feelings.

I knew Joe and kB didn't mean to be racist, but, as I saw the reaction that you

I apologize for something every day, Ludi.
When it rains, I tell people, "I'm sorry."
When someone feels blue, "I'm sorry."
I'm always sorry.
I'm a sorry person, what can I say?
I always reconsider things I could have done better and I am extremely critical
of myself, so I constantly apologize. It drives my friends crazy. And then I
apologize for being annoying and insecure. It baffles most people why I feel

I'll accept the credit. Not that I am proud, cause I am not.

It was perhaps the worst post I ever made. I realize that
my remarks about the Colorado school shooting probably sounded

(paraphrased)

This bugs me. Now this is what I call overemotionalism. A kid gets stuck
in a well. For 6 days the newspaper headlines screamed "Child Trapped In
Well!! Nation Awaits In Vigil!!" Meanwhile you can go to any cosmopoilitan
city and look in the classifieds and still see "Orientals may buy here."
"Negroes may buy here." Some schmuck gets stuck in a well and the entire
nation stays up for a week. Anyway they get this kid out of the well and the
doctor sends him a bill. Everyone flips. "Is that guy kidding? That fruit!
What a rat! What kind of nerve does this guy have sending this poor kid a
bill!" Yeah, what right does a doctor who has spent 12 and 15 years in
school and worked, I mean this is the hardest gig in the world - after all
this time training, what right does he have sending a poor kid a bill?
Actually it brought so much heat on the AMA...<lots deleted>...by the way,
the report comes in. The child is rescued from the well! The doctor's bill
will not have to be paid! ...but in the meantime the child will have to be
returned to the well.

Actually, my dad had family in Europe that went to Brazil and Argentina where
the Nazis continued to persecute them there. It became a haven for Nazis as
well. Remember that movie, "Boys in Brazil"?

OK, if the apologies are all out of the way :), I'd just like to add one more
thing.

I don't think one has to feel bad about not being offended by the post,
regardless of Jewish heritage, or Liberal thinking, or anything. If you
weren't offended, then you weren't offended. There is no rule that says you
MUST be offended. Even the unwritten decency rule doesn't apply here.

I think the reason some were not offended is because they took it exactly how it
was meant, as humor. Being offended is not a sign of stupidity or
over-sensitivity, or a lack of sensitivity, it just means it is offensive to
you. If I didn't have a sense of humor I might be offended by the portrayal of a
killer rabbit, since it is offensive to even think that a cute little bunny
rabbit is a killer even though it has huge, huge fangs.

I actually don't really like blonde jokes. I don't have any blond blood in me,
so I can't claim to be 1/4 blonde (though I do seem to be 1/16 gray now).
{I}--{I}

And watch it on the dentist jokes. I hate anti-dentites.

Why does it take a shorter time for a dentist to service a blonde?

Answer #1: A blonde doesn't need any laughing gas.
Answer #2: A dentist doesn't have to tell a blonde that he loves her 10
times before and 10 times after like he does with his wife.

How come a dentist won't extract a wisdom tooth from a blonde?

Answer: Because he isn't a brain surgeon.

What do you get when you cross a dentist with a blonde?

Answer: Someone who believes in the tooth fairy.

Is Pinot Noir supposed to turn your mouth inside out? I had room service
once at a hotel when I was on a short business trip - I didn't specify what
I wanted, I just asked for a glass of wine to go with my steak and they
brought a Pinot Noir. Yuck.
It was so strong (taste wise, not alcohol wise) that I couldn't finish the
glass. It made my face squinch up like those people in the skunky beer
commercials. I think I'm jealous of people who know how to properly enjoy
wine, cuz I don't think I get it. Next time I'll stick with a nice
cabernet. Is pinot grigio more suited to the beginning wine aficionado?

And may I add that Lynda *hated* red wine until
she was properly educated. When we got back to Texas,
we held a few wine tastings to educate our freinds.
They fought us tooth and nail, with preconceptions
of hate in regars to red wine. By the time we left
6 months later, the local beer store opened a wine
and cheeze shop to accomodate the new local demand.

Next time ya come up, be ready, have an open mind,
and we show ya how its done. You will be a wine
expert in no time!

Wait a minnit, here! I'm not taking this personally because I'm not
blonde--but might this not offend a certain person we know of who at
least *used* to have a bunch of big blond hair?! Not too many jokes
probably get past him! ;)
