More like: he needs the credibility
In the Benelux alone there must have been (and still are) 100 summer
festivals in the months june/july/august/september. Nearly every town or
village pretending to be a town has its own 'free' or low-cost festival. I
suppose this is the same in other European countries as well, a lot of these
festivals program 'sub-top' bands or bands that used to be 'big' a few
decades ago: Mannfred Mann, Simple Minds, Lou Reed, The Orb (BTW, I don't
think 'low' of these artists, on the contrary!)...
So why didn't I see Karl Bartos nowhere, is he reluctant to perform, or is
it his management that sucks? He could have been performing at least a dozen
times this summer and I know a lot of festivals where he could have been,
well, perhaps not the headliner, but the second in command. There have even
been several 'electro' or 'new wave' oriented festivals where Bartos would
have been amongst 'friendly' bands like Front242 or Praga Khan (these people
are all fans of Kraftwerk)...
Just wondering...
Felix
well, he was supposed to play in Arvika, but when Kraftwerk confirmed,
he cancelled his plans... ;-)

I think he has had some problems, of late, with promoters...

Don't think Karl is interesting for most of these festivals. For the
electronic orientated festivals he's just not credible and 'now'
enough, for the more general festivals he is the great unknown.
The names you mention are all bands who have had their share of hits
(under their own name) and/or an extensive fanbase, while karl was
'just' some time one of the four KW-members.
That said. I would certainly go if he played in this part of the
woods.
