Hi. I want to open a karaoke box, and I have been having trouble
finding the right equipment. I learned about karaoke while going to
karaoke boxes with my family and friends in Japan. I want to set up a
Japanese-style box here.

I would like to have the room be completely self-controlled. Just as
in a Japanese box, a customer will have a songbook, microphones, and a
remote on the table. He or she will program the song number via the
remote, pick up the mike, and start singing.

As such, I will need to have a substantial number of songs from which
they can choose. However, it seems like most of the songs I have seen
in the U.S. come on a DVD with a maximum capacity of about 25 songs.
Even with a 5-disc player, I would have only about 125 songs to choose
from. I have seen a unit called the
MegaBox MTC-2200 Multi DVD Player. The sales pitch says that it comes
with a DVD-Disc with over 35,000 songs plus song list and binder. This
seems like the answer to my problems, but I have absolutely no idea
how the unit works and it is non-returnable.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I want the Japanese-style karaoke
has a running video along with lyrics and music, not the blue-screen
lyrics-only that of the CD+G.

Finally, my questions. Does anybody know the MegaBox MTC-2200 Multi
DVD Player? Does it have running video along with lyrics and music?
Will it satisfy my requirements?

Thanks very much for any useful responses.

I have been creating and operating Japanese style karaoke boxes in Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong and China. I use the top line Japanese equipment. Business has very stable over the years and more westerners are coming to sing because we have all the latest English songs in addition to Asian hits. If you're interested please contact me.
