Those look nice indeed.

I used to be a Gibson devotee, but in recent years have converted to
Parker. I'm currently playing the single-cut PM20; it has the warmest,
richest tone I've ever heard in an electric this side of a LP studio
lite. Superb action with medium weight strings too.

My friend is a Parker fanatic and I agree they do sound sweet and the
action is flow through. Its just that I love my SG's way too much to
switch, especially with the modifications I have made to some of them.
I'm still fighting the urge to pick one of these up.

I wonder if if the maple would be too bright. They are good looking,
though. The carve top SG is good looking, too, but the price tag?

Actually they are much cheaper than that. On the link it says Gibson's
suggested retail for the Raw Power SG is $1664 but I have made calls
to several Gibson dealers and I can get on for anywhere between $899
to $1100. I'm still fighting the temptation.

Update:

Gave in to the dark side and purchased a Gibson Raw Power SG in Satin
Yellow this morning. I'm actually surprised that I was able to resist
till now

What kind of strings do you usually use?

My Dean Markely 46's are becoming annoying and I'm looking for a
change, something lighter but still bronze wound if possible (I've
become addicted to that clean ring).

It depends on which guitar I am using and for what. For the most part
I use:

GHS Boomers (favorite)

Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky (these r great for drop D tuning)

D'Addario EXL140 XL

The GHS give me that heavy thunder crunch sound that I like so I favor
them a lot. The GHS tend to perform better when I use them combined
with the better tuning pegs and the the stets bar tremolo system
equipped SG.

I have used EB and liked them, but not the beefy slinkys (not sure if
I've even seen those).

I do play a lot of D tuning (not drop D, but tuned to D), so will give
these a shot.
