am I crazy or is this actually not a bad cd?
Maybe you're crazy. I don't know, I haven't heard the album yet.

Maybe I am. I didn't expect much from this release since it seemed
gimmicky and the preview tracks from youtube sounded flat, but I am
pleasantly surprised.
I've had some time to listen to this record and I can't stop
listening. This is the kind of solo effort I would hope from Halford,
you know something that Priest would never do, but high quality. It
doesn;t sound like the singles (forgetton generation and the others)
that to me sounded like cut and paste jobs. Maybe this album is a cut
n paste job too, but it sounds good. Rob's voice is great on Emmanuel
and Winter Song, wow, he still has the power even if his voice has
changed a little. Winter Song sounds like classic 70's Priest to me.
It's really a treat.
We are barraged with so many negative things constantly. Soldiers
getting shot for no reason, people hating on each other every day
sometimes I dont want to listen some pseudo evil metal band's
postering (sometimes I do lol) but for those times I don't, Winter
Songs is my metal companion.
I'll check it out. Thanks Kev.
If it doesn't involve Halford with Priest then not even remotely
interested in it.
so you will give the new Slayer a chance, but not Halford? Something
is wrong here.
I have only liked one cd and about half of another that Rob has done
outside of Priest. That's enough for me to let it pass on by without
giving it a thought. Also the new Slayer has already run its course
for me but, 2 weeks of sporadic listening is a record for me with
Slayer. The longest before that was about 2 hours.
Good point.
Tom
Kind of surprised myself.
Hey, I guess that's progress.
Tom
Still haven't heard it yet.
I figured I'd give it a shot since it's Halford, but I couldn't actually get
through any of the songs. I gave up around track 5.

Go ahead and play some Canadian Metal, then.
Tom
You're the one listening to Triumph.
Besides, I just saw Sacrifice on Saturday.
So you listened to Winter Song and didn't like it? IMO the best
ballad he's done since the 70's. It's a cover, but his vocals are
amazing, but maybe ballads's aren't your thing.
I can`t even drum up the enthusiasm to bother downloading it. As much as I
love Halford`s vocals a heavy metal Xmas album just doesn`t interest me.
Been in a bit of a black metal mood of late as well which doesn`t help.
What I managed to get through didn't work for me. Personally, I think he
should give up the solo stuff.
Agree, 1000%!!!!!!

Is Triumph really metal, though? I think of them as hard rock.

I imagine he won't be happy with the first week sales.

At least winter themed Christmas stuff.
Tom
I still don't get the 'go listen to Canadian Metal' comment. You should have
used your time off to work up some new material.
IMO most of Robs solo stuff is just boring.
Fight: WOW, I loved it and still do
Fight: ASDS totally sucked ass
Two: Voyeurs, well lets just not go there :-)
Halford: Resurrection, I like roughly 4 songs on it
Halford: Crucible, bored the hell out of me.
I like most of Resurrection and all of Crucible.

Humorless.

What I can't joke around anymore?

Well, it didn't sell the first week out, so I wonder how much more
effort towards that he's going to do.
Tom
Damn, I did too.
Tom
I need to throw the CD's away now.
It just that it's the same joke. Need some fresh material.
I don't have a problem with anyone liking what they like. Nor do I put
them down for it like others here do. I take a crack at Slayer every
now and then but I don't say "how can anyone like a certain band"
because there is no explanation why someone likes what they like, they
just do. For me a band doesn't have to release ground breaking
material or keep the same sound. As long as I like it that's all that
matters. Who really cares what others think, I know I don't. There are
bands, singers and music that I like that if I mentioned them here
most would come out with silly immature comments and since I barely
have a slight sense of humor I just don't bother with mentioning
anything. This is the same reason why I don't recommend cd's, books or
movies to anyone. If someone ask me I just usually say buy it or go
watch it and judge for yourself. I don't want nor like to hear the
bitching and whining that comes afterwards when they done like it. Its
good that you can like Resurrection and Crucible, as for me I found
the first just OK and Crucible a total boredom. Except for Fight I
don't think I will ever be a fan of Robs solo projects. His recordings
with JP are great but IMO his solo stuff is lackluster.

If I can't kid you about being a Canadian, hockey, and beer, then
what's left? Oh, yeah, Canadian Whiskey. Did I forget anything?

I don't know so much about this. e. mentions all sorts of stuff he
likes, and we don't make fun of it.

Which is fine. I like most JP stuff way more than I do the Rob solo
stuff. Even though I do like Crucible, and find I listen to it more
often than Res.
Tom
Snow. Actually, there's none of that here yet. Usually it's about -10C with
a foot of snow by now. Instead we're seeing +10 and sun. The apocalypse has
arrived.

Unless it's The Jonas Brothers or something. Then we're required by law to
make fun of that.
Winnipeg is warmer than Toronto???

the apocalypse has INDEED arrived...
What's wrong with the Jonas Brothers?

I think most people care what others think (and often to a much higher
degree than they care to admit), but it's true that others not liking
the same stuff shouldn't bother you.
And what's wrong with immaturely ribbing somebody like Tom for liking
crap like DraconianEpicaDaylightisDullNightwashedout? Or Ian for the
frilly power metal? Or Bomber for RID?
It's not like we're going to win any maturity awards for listening to
metal in the first place.
:)
e.

or bomber for liking RID!!!!!
I think I'm worse for the frilly PM thing than Ian, but RID is by far the
most awsomeriffic thing ever. Gonna play it now!
Not I, at all.
And as for the ribbing I can understand teasing a person to a degree
but it all comes down to my lack of a sense of humor. I have always
been that way, even as a child. My mother used to introduce me to
someone she knew and she would say "this is my son Ritchie, he is 10
going on 30". Don't get me wrong I laugh at funny movies and jokes but
that's it.

It will come, and you'll have your 10 feet of snow by Dec. I bet.

I am pretty sure Ritchie and e do not like the Jonas Brothers.

Crap? I like what I like. I don't listen to music to give others
pleasure or for their approval.

Does Ian really listen to that much PM, though? And Bomber surely
doesn't listen to RiD all that often, either.

Good. I was beginning to think you never laugh at all. And that
would be a bad thing, I think.
Tom
Yes you do. In fact, the only reason you listen to music is for Ian's
approval.
This is the truth!
e.

it truly is
Ian surely doesn't approve of the above bands.
