I've heard there's a conspiracy theory regarding the death of Jeff Buckley.
Is this true, and if so, what's the theory?

Also, what's the common story about how he died?

I don't know about any conspiracy but the common story says he spontaneously
decided to go for a swim at night. A friend was with him and turned his
back for a few moments to keep a CD player from getting wet. He turned
around and Jeff was gone, caught in the undertow of a passing boat.

Sadly some people find it hard to accept his early demise was nothing more
than an accident...no drink, ( well something like the equivalent of a glass
of wine) or drugs were involved, no witchcraft, no suicide...whatever.. I
dont know what "conspiracy" you mean...they seem to be thought up by
teenagers with too much time on their hands I think!
