It is not a movie, it is a TV-film. You could try to contact ARD or ZDF in
Germany, but you won't get an English version there, though.

Here are the URLs: http://www.ard.de/ http://www.zdf.de/

I recorded it on video in 85. It consists of 4 sections telling about the
period 1717-1750.
Each of them lasts about 90 minutes.
Don't buy it for its dramatic qualities, because Bachs every day life was
with a few exceptions not exciting enough to be a basis of a long movie.
Especially the third part filled up with arguing wigheads is boring.

Fortunately the video has other qualities: You see everyday life as it was
in the first part of the 18th century,
in Bachs home and in higher circles. A lot of money must have been used on
costumes. You see some
of the Bach locations. ( In 85 they were behind an iron carpet) and of
course: You hear a lot of JSB music.

The question is if those qualities are enough considering a perhaps
expensive price.
Unfortunately I cannot help with copies. Just wanted to tell my opinion.

Not the same video, but Facets, www.facets.org has what they claim to be an
"exclusive"; something called a "documentary" of J.S. Bach by somebody
called Juan Downey. (USA 1986, 28 minutes) Anyone know anything about this
one?
