Again, here is what Fran E. said Amy said about Scooter Boys...

>>Here's a tidbit that was posted to the IG List, regarding IG's
performance for World Cafe, where Amy discussed "Scooter Boys":

*amy said that "scooter boys" symbolized to her England, that in her
*mind the image of scooter boys epitomized England, and that she was
*using this English image to talk about imperialism and the nations
*that colonized others, while on the other side of things was
*Argentina, which was colonized. So basically, this is about
*colonialism, what it does to people (especially the colonized) and she
*said it was also about putting her own life in perspective to all of
*the other issues in the world, how travelling around and seeing the
*state of different oppressed peoples (such as in Chiapas) has really
*put her own problems into perspectives, how she has come from a
*privaleged background. (in defense of scooter boys, she said her many
*of her friends are scooter people :)

Hey y'all,

Looks like some of y'all didn't see my post from last Monday, so I'm
reposting the excerpt from a post to the IG List recounting what Amy
said about this song on the World Cafe broadcast:

Also, according to archeological evidence discovered in the past
several years, all of the "indians", whether in North or South America,
descended from the same hunter-gatherers who migrated from Asia between
10,000 and 25,000 years ago. About 500 years ago, the slaughter of
these descendents began at the hands of Europeans greedy for their land
and natural resources. FYI, Mexico is part of North America, not South
America - that's why the NAFTA countries are Canada, the U.S., and
Mexico. The confusion may be due to the fact that the countries from
Mexico south are collectively referred to as Latin America.

Not bad, Thomas, you were pretty close! :)

Peace,
Fran E.

Well, I'm correcting you...

>,i.e. Scooter boys and Argentinians are the victims and the Europeans
>are the agressors.
I did not think Scooter boys and Argentinians were the
victims...Argentinians were representing the victims, scooter boys were
representing the agressors.

Scooter Boys and Argentinians
Europe shed the blood of the Indians

Understand where i was coming from now?
