Listen to John "Rastafarian" Griffin - who will host the A2 tribute to
Ron at the Blind Pig - on WCBN at 4pm (EST) on Friday: http://wcbn.org.
John used to be a DJ at this University of Michigan student station
and hosted a free 2 hr walking tour of A2, covering many Stooges
haunts, the Grand Ballroom, Discount records, the band house (I
especially liked the back porch where Iggy...), The bridge Scott
crashed the truck into, the Towers apt, the Teen Hall, the State
Theatre, The MC5 house where the Stooges were signed to Arista, the
list goes on like reading Please Kill Me :) And he was a friend of
Ron's. I'll be listening!
I am waiting for info on a new Iggy Pop release!
One hell of a tribute show. Lots of Stooges and
DAM. Much credit to Chris "Box" Taylor who
organized the event and played in/with many of the
bands that appeared. I drove 115 miles each way
and it was well worth it.
