personally i doubt it...all it says in the song is that she works at night and
that she couldnt accept his invitation to the concert..but you never know :)

And she didn't take the money that he left...which could mean she usually
did?

could be but in the story isnt he then in town to do a show? could be that he's
making sure she is fine financially and that she turns down his generosity?

You should listen to the song.

She is acting "happy" in her high priced home. =not happy =not having it made

He's flying high stoned =not flying for real

Both have missed their dream. Such is life.

The power of Harry's music =truth

I think some of you are talking about the song "Taxi" and others are
talking about "Sequel" which is the follow-up to Taxi. In the song
"Sequel" Sue is living in an old 5 story building in town and
supporting herself instead of in a mansion living off someone else's
money. I was at a concert where Harry read the lyrics as a poem as he
had not finished the music for it. At that time he gave the
impression that she was working a legitimate low paying job and while
she didn't have lots of money she had found self respect.

Barmaid, not waitress.

More importantly, "big old friendly girl" doesn't sound like the
female lead of "Taxi" and "Sequel".
