I couldn't find the message where this was first suggested, but I just came
from the Cracker Barrel, where I picked up a handful of Hohner BluesBands
(all were in the key of C). At $3.99 apiece, it sounded like a pretty good
deal for a beginner like myself. I saw the CD's there too, but couldn't
remember which one was recommended in this ng.

The Cd is named "Red River Valley." The rest of the information can be found
in the thread that is named "Once in a Lifetime Experience!" Just follow the
links down to the one from "Bob Coble." Enjoy!

(The "quotions (sic) marks" indicate things that are literal quotations -
dang, folks, I thought that this list is about the HARMONICA and the MUSIC,
not the grammar! Get out some Little Walter, Carey Bell, or whoever your
favorite harmonica music maker happens to be and CHILL! School is OUT for
some of us older folks, so LIGHTEN UP! "In goes the good air, out goes the
bad air, ..." - okay, I'm feeling better now. ;-) )

Back to lurkin' and learnin'
Crazy (about all things harmonica but not all things defined as "proper
English" by Americans - with apology in advance to any and all Brits on the
list) Bob

As a beginner, I don't have the expertise yet to discern the good harps from
the bad... I make 'em all sound bad (that was a joke, I'm not getting down
on myself about it). That's why I thought it would be good to spend as
little as possible at this point. However, I have been having troubles
learning to bend, and it occurred to me that maybe it is because of the
quality of the harp? Maybe price shouldn't be the primary consideration? I
see three possibilities:
1. the harmonica is crap but I could bend on a decent quality one
2. I am already bending, but don't know it because this Bendometer program
I just bought doesn't work so well
3. no excuses-- I just haven't learned to bend yet

I guess I'd hope it is #1, but it is more likely a combination of all three.
At any rate, the kids will love these...
Milred
