Hi all, I've noticed that my start motor will not disengage after I let go to the start switch. I purchsed this organ from an individual that did some mod's to it and was wondering if any one can shed some light on what might be going on?

Check to make sure the start motor is correctly
mounted. (Look for loose screws, etc.) Make sure
the pinion gear is lubricated. Check to see if the
spring that returns the armature to rest position
is still functional. Read section 5-12 and see
illustration 5-3 here:

Note that the B-3/C-3 generator is mechanically
identical to the one in your A-100. Using strong
illumination, check to make sure that the grease
originally used on the start motor's pinion gear
and the gear on the end of the tone generator's
main shaft has not dried out and turned into glue.
You may need to remove the previously used grease
with solvent; early lubricants were all petroleum
based and subject to eventual deterioration via
evaporation. Use a modern silicone-based lube this
time around. Also, make sure that voltage is not
being sent to the start motor's windings even
though you have released the switch.

MAGA!
