hi, just sharing my experience about the hammond clone from kurzweil....

first of all, you have complete control of every aspect of hammond... and
more

a layout that have the all set of controls you need in a hammond, slow/fast,
drawbar control, vibrato and chorus control ( 1,2,3 ). percussion ( decay ,
volume, what drawbar does de percussion , what drawbar is stealed )
in timbre mode you can change ( besides low rate high rate of the leslie,
and amount of vibrato and chorus) you can control the leakage ( in dBs ) the
type of tonewheel model ( B3 in good mint or junky condition) the drawbar
response ( smooth, normal or junky ) the type or drawbar sound ( once
again: of a B3 in good condition , etc ) preamp response ( simulating the
expression pedal on the B3 ) the drive of the tube, key click, key clik
release ( in dBs ), the rate of the vibrato, chorus and leslie is expressed
in Hz.
All the controllers are send and received via midi, if you prefer a more
hammond like control you can attach the Voce Midi drawbar control, or for
the users of external leslie emulation ( or the real thing ) you can easily
mute de leslie of Kb3 mode.

My opinion ... the leslie ramp up and down are "artificial", no warmth, but
hey ... this is a digital synth ..
but with a few changes you can get a ballsy screaming sound.

I use a Ob3 with a Rotosphere for B3 sounds, used and tested many b3 clones.
B4, CX3 ( the old and new ) and VK-7, and I still prefer the Rotosphere for
the leslie/valve departement ( never used a Motion pro ;- ), in the drawbar
B3 emulation I think the KB3 does a very decent job, if you are in to
tweaking the sound to your taste.

Hammond forever ...

A very fair assessment. KB3 is my wannaB of choice, and with some
judicious tweaking it is possible to get very close. The percussion is a
bit "plonky" sounding to my ear, but editing the decay times seems to
solve that OK. I have
done some edits to the KDFX side, using the large ribbon to dial in
overdrive and balance the output volume, one of the things I hate about
the VK-7. The flaw in the percussion response is another reason to avoid
the Roland, and the Kurz handles it quite well.
