Woody Redicsovered: DC area 9/30/06

Yes, this is a heads-up for an event that's two months away, but please
mark your calendars now. We will be presenting WOODY REDISCOVERED for
the Folklore Society of Greater Washington on Saturday evening,
September 30, 2006, from 8:00 to 10:30 PM.
WOODY REDISCOVERED is an exploration of some of Woody Guthrie's lesser
known songs. There are more than 3,000 songs in the Woody Guthrie
Archives, and Woody recorded well over 300 of them. However, only about
30 are well known today. In this house concert style workshop we will
introduce you to a few of Woody Guthrie's other 2,970+ songs. Some were
recorded or published in Woody's own lifetime; others were discovered
among his effects after his death. All deserve to be recognized as the
gems that they are. We will have song sheets available, so come prepared
to sing along and learn some new old songs!
WOODY REDISCOVERED will take place at the home of Kathie Mack, 7208
Maple Avenue in the Old-Town section of Takoma Park, Maryland. That's
just a short three block walk from the Takoma Park Metro station. For
