I've only heard two of their songs, but they're filled with Green Day riffs
from their songs, either slightly altered or not altered at all. One of
their songs has the "Espionage" riff in it, with almost no alterations.
Anyone else notice this? Does anyone have their CD that just came out?

Well I heard a Living End song on the radio the other day and it reaked
of Green Day. Sounds like a ripoff to me.

well the song i heard did sound alot like Espionage, but i've heard that riff
before. I 'll bet though that the Living End heard Green Day's Espionage and
then went a copied it, so it does make it a rip off.

I've never heard of The Living End... who are they? are they a new Yank punk
band?
Well, seeing as I've never heard them i can't really comment, but it's not
as if BJ's riffs are particularly difficult or original...

It's basic three chord-type stuff, and there's a million punk bands out
there basically playing the same chords over and over again. Think of every
band on Nitro, Fat Wreck Chords, etc. etc. etc.... a lot of the bands sound
very similar... it's the lyrics, energy, and personality of the bands which
tend to grab you...

hmpf.... that's what I think anyway...

Like which? Who wrote them then? I know the riff from "Hitchin' A Ride"
sounds like the riff from an old song from some other band.

Yeah, sort of. The notes in Hithin' a ride are 1 1/2 step higher than Brain
Stew, and the pattern is different, but the note arrangement is the same.
Still...it's not the same riff because they don't sound the same unless you
really analyze them.

A ton of GD songs use the same notes too, just in different patters
like...Jaded, Walking Contradicion, and J.A.R. all use the same
notes/chords, but played differently.

I disagree with you here...there are an infinite number of riffs...but a
finite number of chord progression (or notes that sound good after each
other).

Obviously I cant tell you who wrote them first cause I sure as hell do
not know but, here are a few examples:
when I come around: This chord progression was used by brian adams for
"thought I'd died and gone to heaven" !!!
at the library: The verse riff is a classic
cristie road: The verse riff from that is old too

seeing as you mentioned 'hitchin a ride' billie took that from brian
stew!!

All this is shit anyway cause i'm not trying to put green day down or
anyone down I'm just saying billie didn't write most of the chord
progreesions he uses!! as does nobody!!! theres only so many riffs
that actually sound good!!Actually theres only so many riffs full stop
