The Forgotten Bouzouki at Folk Night

This Wednesday, December 16, 9--11:30 p.m., at Folk Night at
The Ship Pub in St. John's, Newfoundland, the headliners
will be local Greek band The Forgotten Bouzouki.

Cover is $5, there are door prizes, there is an open
mic set between the two headline sets, and open mic
performers get a free beer. Also the kitchen is open
until 8 p.m.

Always a Folk Night favourite, The Forgotten Bouzouki always brings a
crowd and rocks the Ship with a huge sound, dynamic arrangements and top
notch cast of musicians!

The Forgotten Bouzouki is the only Greek band in Newfoundland and
Labrador. It was formed in 1998 by members of the local Greek community.
For this Folk Night show, the band will consist of George Miminis and
six first-class professional musicians: Dave Panting, Darren Browne,
Maria Cherwick, Brian Cherwick, Simon Miminis, and Matt Hender.

The band performs several genres of Greek music, including traditional,
island, ballads, folk and Rebetika (which is the equivalent of American
Blues). The band has played in theaters, pubs, dinner & dance settings
as well as a number of festivals, including the NL Folk Festival and the
Wreckhouse International Jazz and Blues Festival.


Next week (December 23) there won't be a Folk Night but a
special Tibb's Eve concert starting at 10 p.m., featuring
Amelia Curran and Craig Young, with a $20 cover. The
following week (December 30) will be a Traditional Music
Session hosted by fiddler Charlotte-Anne Malischewski.
