What was wrong with picking 10 songs written and sung in Greek and which
represented the music of Cyprus and not that of Ireland, Great Britain and
the United States once again? Why do the producers of this show think that
people will accept singers who can't even pronounce the language they are
singing in properly and songs that would have had no hope of ever charting,
or actually selling any copies for that matter if they were released in the
normal way in the country whose music they copy? Konstantinos Kristoforou
lyrics were barely intelligible so why did he even attempt to sing in
English.
The winner once again was the least unintelligible singer in the opinion of
the public televote. If there had been a traditional Cypriot song in the
contest Life looks better in spring would never have won and it is clear
that Cypriot and Greek music was deliberately discriminated against. Cyprus
will most likely not qualify for the finals this year just like before.
The show's producers should be sacked and all future entries should be sung
in Greek and be from recognised artists who have sold at least 10,000 copies
of a previous single or album, and composers who have done the same in
respect of singles sales, and must represent the music of Cyprus, otherwise
Cyprus shouldn't even bother entering the Eurovision again.
This is supposed to be a Song Contest not a Talent Show for people who think
they can break into the English music charts.
2/12 for the song lyrics, 2/12 for the music which is completely bland and
lifeless, so an average score of 2/12.
This contest was clearly a joke from start to finish.
