Last night I was watching VH1's "Behind The Music" episode of K.C. and the
Sunshine Band, and I couldn't help wondering if he's gay. First of all, in
every "Behind The Msuic" episode I've seen, the main subject's love life is
always talked about...For example if they've ever gotten married, or any
significant others they've had.

What was strange about this documentary was not once did they mention K.C.'s
love life, any significant others, or even anyone who he dated... and it was
clear that he's never gotten married. Then another thing that I noticed (and
maybe I'm reading more into this), one of the people close to K.C. (I can't
remember who said it), mentioned "When K.C. and Harry broke up"...meaning K.C.
and his songwriting partner Harry Finch, who went their separate ways when K.C.
launched a solo career. It was clear from the documentary that they were very
close...I think the word used was "inseparable."

So what's the deal? Does anyone know if K.C. is really gay? He definitely was
cute when he was in his prime.....

From what I've heard in the last few years - yeah, he's gay.

Here's the letter that I tried to write to Ms. Sass personally, but I guess she
still doesn't accept email-I'm a little disappointed Ms. Sas-if you can dish
it, ( I've read some of your other posts) then you should be able to take it.

Since you asked the question, I just wanted to tell you a little something
about K.C. Yes, I believe he is gay. I say this because about 4 yrs ago when I
was in business school, one of my instructors ( he was the type who was a jack
of all trades) said that he used to be a limo driver for a while here in
Atlanta for extra money. K.C.and the band had done a show here & my instructor
had driven them around & he made the comment that K.C. " Was gay as all get
out". I kinda believe it now but I didn't want to, he was cute back in the day!
I think in the last 15 years he has been gay, for some reason I didn't feel
that about him judging from old footage.

>yeah I know this was posted over 15 years ago but KC and Rick Finch shared a house together back in the seventies. I remember reading that in a teeny bopper mag back in the day! Of course, Rick Finch is now in jail for molesting little boys and KC acts like he hardly knew the man! I think KC also supposedly had a "romance" with somebody named Teri Desario back around 1980. They had some semi-hit records back then.KC also sports a big diamond in his left ear and yeah he never married,so draw your own inclusions!

thanks for the info!

When a celebrity's romantic life is never mentioned in shows like these, it almost always means that they're gay. I think most of the members of this group are gay.

Probing for uncertain information about a celebrity, and infact about anyone, seems trivial and baiased. Drawing conclusions based on your own perception is infact more revealing about yourself and your own personal insecurities. There are many celebrities, and non public people, who choose to seperate their careers from their private lives as a personal preference, and by doing so are protected under the law. By expressing public defamatory remarks against someone not only opens you up to lawsuits, loss of your own personal property for damages, but the mirror then turns on to you about your own worthiness and trust by others as questions are raised about your own judgement and insecurities. Just ask what it did for Anita Bryant's career who promoted defamation of character and a Mc Carthy style witch hunt against people different than herself. Some people have a superiority complex and want you to believe in their ideals, just like Hitler, and for all the wrong reasons. In the long run, nobody really cares about another person's personal life really. Hasn't Anita Bryant, a nobody now, been living in a trailer park in Missouri?

Ok first off it doesn't matter if he is gay or not...

Second..It doesn't mean you gay by wearing an ear ring in your left ear and

Third...He was in a very long relationship with Teri Desario in the 80's and Teri is a WOMAN, so I seriously doubt of he is gay. Maybe he's Bi I don't know nor do I care..

All I care about is that I got to dance my ass off at the discos when his songs were popular...

He was a little hottie back then but with ALL the drugs that he did over the last 40 years no wonder he doesn't look good now...

People really should get a life and quit worrying about who's gay and who isn't... "Keep It Comin Love!!"

No no no....as a hetero I have to constantly hear about gay this and gay rights that. Gay pride here and make my wedding cake there. So if people want to know if someone is gay or not that's their prerogative. Either you're proud of it and want it brought to light or you don't.

If gays shine a spotlight on it then heteros should have the right to inquire about it too. You don't get it both ways.

He was a cutie back then and he still doesn't look too shabby now at age 66! Who cares if he is gay or not? As long as he is a happy person that's all that matters!

I know this thread is ancient but I feel compelled to comment about this comment:

Why is it that when the question arises about whether or not some celebrity is gay, that you invariably will have someone like this "person" above feel the need to compose their statement on the subject is such a crass and ugly way?? Does it not occur to you that if all are discussing the question that they OBVIOUSLY already know the physical nature inherent in the subject and this have NO NEED of description? I realize that everyone likes to engage in whatever sexual preference they identify with in their own unique way which is their right. The person who wrote this comment implies that they were engaged in some similar sexual act in close proximity to Mr. K.C. And the language they use to describe said acts further implies that "Dirty Talk" is how they like to get their kicks. To each their own, I guess, but I have always found that those that engage in such acts usually suffer from low self esteem and/or don't like their own sexual orientations very much. Is that the deal Amsto??

If you have friends that are gay and NOT "out" (and you might NOT, as you MAY NOT have shown them that you are particularly trustworthy) you probably have the AWARENESS that as soon as they come "out", their lives WILL become more DIFFICULT/complicated. That's a REALITY, and honestly who needs that? Especially for the gay dudes who "look straight", there is NOTHING to be gained from it. These guys aren't trying to "fool" women or fake relationships, they are with men, but they don't publicly blab the details of their private lives. As you know, it might be 2022, but there are STILL plenty of judgemental (redneck) people out there, along with the crowd that says "they're okay with it", but deep-down really AREN'T (but they want to appear P/C). The truth is, people are BORN gay/lesbian it is NOT a choice that is theirs to make.

Since you are on the fringe of KC's circle, you KNOW that KC has chosen to keep his personal preference private. In fact, you make reference to that KNOWLEDGE in your response above, so WHY have you CHOSEN to ignore his wishes?? He's a person too, and has a right to individual respect like we all do. It's pretty CLEAR to ANYONE that KC has chosen to keep his personal life private, he has NEVER spoken publicly on the issue. Everyone has the right to at least a LITTLE bit of privacy, if they CHOOSE. People seem to forget KC was raised in a church-going Pentecost household, and the Pentecost religion is very strict.

I'm (very) aware humans are "hardwired" with a NEED to blab personal information (especially other people's). If a gay person decides to come "out", THEY should be allowed to announce it to the WORLD, themselves. If you refrain from blabbing what you've been told (often in confidence), it doesn't mean you think something is "bad", it's actually a reflection of the ENVIRONMENT that you are in. It's really an effort to keep negativity and and small mindedness at bay. If someone is feeling that human inkling to blab new information, then tell your friends, that should satisfy your need. There is NO NEED TO GET ON THE INTERNET AND MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS TO THE FREAKIN' WORLD! Are you that person who enjoys telling kids "There is NO Santa Claus"? KC was VERY good looking back in the day, just let people just enjoy their little fantasies. You show respect for PEOPLE that are gay, but you're not showing respect for KC as a person.

Longing for the harpazô moment!

I DO care if they are gays or not!!!!
Mosst of the time, and one proof is KC's friend Richard Finch, they molest/rape young teens/children!!! He went to jail for 7 years for that!
Look at Yves Saint-Laurent and his partner in crime Pierre Bergès, they were in Marocco where in their Ryad they were raping kids!!!!
So don't tell me it's fine!
Those people are already perverted in themselves!!!
God never made a man to go with a man!
But soon, the rednecks, as some call us, will be gone from earth and hell will break loose!
The ones left behind will just get a taste of having mocked us!
