NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC RECORDINGS
DOUBLE IN 1998

The Native American Music Association (N.A.M.A.) is proud to announce one
hundred and forty-four national music recordings released in the 1998
calendar year which will qualify for category nomination for the Second Annual
Native American Music Awards.

Since the First Native American Music Awards which honored recordings
released in the 1997 calendar year, Native American music titles have more
than doubled in the United States. The one hundred and forty-seven qualifying
recording titles marks over a 100% increase from the previous year which
totaled 64. Additionally, this year, the Native American Music Awards has
created nine new categories to accommodate this spawning growth as well as
honor the work of Aboriginal Canadian and Indigenous Latin American music now
available in the U.S.. These newly added categories, featuring twenty
seperate recording titles, increases the total percentage of qualifying Native
American music releases to 125% from last year.

N.A.M.A. Founder/CEO, Ellen Bello, stated, "The amount of Native American
music releases has increased two-fold since last year. At a time when the
mainstream music industry faces new mergers and challenges, it is both
extremely encouraging and exciting to be able to embrace and support the
tremendous growth of a burgeoning and self-sustaining market for Native
American music."

The following 1998 releases have been submitted for nomination consideration
by record companies and independent production houses for the Second Annual

You're going to have an awards ceremony for a genre of music where 144
whole albums were released?

Can't wait for the Jewish American Music Awards (JAMMIES), or more
importantly, the Independent American Awards For Music Recorded In Small To
Medium/Large Studios When Initial Setup For The Recording Event Began On A
Tuesday (IAAMRSMLSWISREBT-IES).

Recognition is a good thing. This, however, is silly.

Oh my gawd, Twiddle. I think I mostly just feel sorry for you.
You are a highly illusioned person. I won't even TRY to begin
setting you straight. I'll leave that for people who have much
more patience and extra time on their hands than I. Or perhaps
I'm better to leave it to Karma, for she tends to smack you in
the face with a spare shovel or a rake handle now and then if
you know what I mean.
I will say however for everyone's benefit here, that
this will be the second annual NAMMY's and the first one was
pretty beautiful and huge, and dare I say fun?

Yes, they've warranted 5 to 7 categories within the Grammys for the
last 5 years, but never saw even one. (pronounced "neo-apartheid")
So they pretty much just said "we can have our own whole show as if
WE'RE the Grammys." (simplified explanatation but it's "prolly" good
enough for you.)

We've got 2/3 of the Grammies, why would we need a "jammies?"
Jewish people are creative, what can I say, <blushing>

Wow, no one would even be in my league. I'd dominate for a decade!

Your imperialistic view of indigenous artistic expression
might be a little silly. Wayne Newton hosting and MC'ing
the first annual Nammys might be a little silly. Perhaps
my even bringing the Nammys to your attention was silly.
But the NAMMYs overall?

Quite profound actually.

Have an ice day,

If Wayne Newton were to host it, it would be the ONLY reason to pay
attention to it.
