BONO SAYS HE AND HUTCHENCE TALKED ABOUT SUICIDE
In the new issue of Rolling Stone, BONO reveals that he and his friend MICHAEL
HUTCHENCE discussed suicide before the INXS frontman took his own life in
1997. "We kind of promised each other we wouldn't cross that line where things
get stupid," he said of their conversation. Bono says that he wrote U2's
"Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" for his friend. "I felt the biggest
respect I could pay him was not to write some stupid soppy fucking song, so I
wrote a really tough, nasty little number," he said.


A.J. McLEAN TO RETURN AS JOHNNY NO-NAME
BACKSTREET BOY A.J. McLEAN will take the stage again in the role of his rock &
rolling alter ego, JOHNNY NO-NAME. He will play a "pre-New Year's bash" on
Dec. 30 at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. Earlier
this year, McLean took his side project on a nine-city tour, offering up
covers of songs by STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Tickets
for the Orlando show are available through Ticketmaster, and proceeds will be
donated to children's charities.


XZIBIT, PAPA ROACH PLAY NEW YEAR'S BASH
XZIBIT and PAPA ROACH have joined the lineup to usher in 2001 for this year's
MTV New Year's Eve show. MARILYN MANSON and BBMAK will also perform at MTV
studios in New York City's Times Square, and house DJs Samantha Ronson and DJ
Quik will spin. CARSON DALY, actress RACHAEL LEIGH COOK and MANDY MOORE will
host.


BRITNEY REVEALS INSPIRATION FOR REVEALING OUTFITS
BRITNEY SPEARS chalks up her less-is-more fashion sense to growing up in
Louisiana, where skin-centric clothing is commonplace. With a multi-platinum
album and a best-selling book released in 2000, the teen queen is honored in
the new issue of "Us Weekly" as one of the Celebrities of the Year. The
recently wed MADONNA and "Charlie's Angel" DREW BARRYMORE are among the other

of the TEMPTATIONS who legally owns the name of the band, has prevented former
member DENNIS EDWARDS from using the Temptations name at a concert in
Columbia, S.C. . . . Beck fans will soon be able to find live footage of his
performance at the Bridge School Benefit on www.beck.com. His acoustic set
included "Tropicalia," "Nobody's Fault but My Own" and "Jackass" . . . TINA
TURNER's Twenty-four Seven World Tour earned $80.2 million, making it the
highest grossing tour of 2000, according to "Pollstar" . . . 'N SYNC's CHRIS
KIRKPATRICK has founded, and is serving as the CEO of, FuMan Skeeto, Inc., a
production/merchandising/clothing company.

Hip-hop act the FANTASTIC FOUR are heading out on the road for a month-long
tour starting in early January in San Francisco . . . Rare and remixed tracks
by ROB ZOMBIE, STATIC-X, and FILTER will appear on the soundtrack for the
movie, "Valentine," due out Jan. 30 . . . Masked hard rockers MUDVAYNE will
debut the video for "Dig" at midnight on New Year's Eve on their Web site,
www.mudvayne.com . . . COLD CHISEL, MEN AT WORK and CROWDED HOUSE have joined
the list of bands honored in a series of Australian postage stamps, which
already includes SILVERCHAIR, SAVAGE GARDEN and MIDNIGHT OIL. The stamps will
become available in March . . . TRICKY is in the studio with singer/actress
TIA CARRERE ("Wayne's World") helping her with her new album . . . The house
in which PAULA YATES' body was found has sold for $892,500. The money from the
sale will be given to Yates' daughters . . . Hard rockers GLASSJAW will enter
the studio in the spring to record their second album with producer ROS
S ROBINSON (KORN, SLIPKNOT).
