The PS VR2 is for gamers willing to go all-in on Sony's next-generation vision of virtual reality. After all, the headset's not inexpensive at nearly $600 and it lacks backward compatibility with original PlayStation VR games (which is why that model is still on this list). However, this comfortable and impressive hardware has a strong launch library that includes Horizon: Call of the Mountain and the Jurassic World Aftermath Collection.


Despite being developed decades ago, companies like Oculus and Meta (which owns Oculus) have made VR much more popular. Now, kids can hang out in virtual chat rooms, play their favorite virtual reality games, and tour different parts of the world without ever leaving their homes.

But after spending a week with the Oculus Rift, I have no doubt that its approach to virtual reality is indeed the real deal. It's well built and easy to set up, and there are already a few games and apps that'll make VR believers out of the most ardent naysayer. The only problem: It's $600 and requires a powerful gaming PC. Just as with every new technological milestone, it has the potential to change the world. But at this early stage, only a few can afford it.


Even after spending the better part of a week with the Oculus Rift, it's still hard to fathom that virtual reality is something I can just jump into at home. It's almost as easy as flipping on a game console or turning on the radio. It's even harder to believe that we have a first-generation technology product that mostly lives up to all of the hype, and decades of geek fantasies.


Virtual reality is a term used to describe three-dimensional (3D), computer-generated environments that can be explored and interacted with by its users. Virtual reality usually consists of a headset around the eyes with additional gadgets to make the experience more realistic.


More and more, VR technology is merging with the world of transportation. As we talked about last time, virtual reality headsets are already being used in the automotive industry to improve safety and efficiency for engineers, drivers, and pedestrians. So, is that a good thing?


When paired with the proper hardware, the Oculus Rift is far superior to PlayStation VR, and light years ahead of Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR, both of which only rely on the power of your cell phone to gaze into the plane of virtual reality. It's not quite as immersive or as capable as the HTC Vive, but I'll touch on that point more in a bit.






I've tried my best to explain virtual reality in words and, on multiple occasions, have completely and utterly failed. At best all I can do is paint a half-cocked image in hopes to inspire you to go out and find a friend or coworker with an Oculus Rift of their own who'd be kind enough to let you give it a whirl. Here goes nothing.


This is what it's like to use virtual reality, to get the experience of being somewhere else in a different time, a different place, sometimes as far as an alien world, all without ever leaving your home.


Taken as a whole, we love the Oculus Rift S. While there are certain trade-offs that come with any new headset, the Rift S is overall an exciting step forward for the Oculus Rift line - and for computer-powered virtual reality in general.


Nowadays, teachers find it real hard to create a productive engagement within the class. With the virtual reality technology present in the education, this aspect will forever disappear, as most of the students will feel tempted to talk about their experiences within their virtual reality.


As you have probably noticed, the virtual reality environment is consistently evolving. It could bring dozens of benefits to almost any field, but it can also prove to be harmful. Per total, we believe that the modernization of education through the use of virtual reality can be quite a productive accomplishment.


VR technology applications in medical education and treatment, especially psychiatric treatments need a comprehensive manual that specifies how, where, and for whom this technology is appropriate. Individual characteristics (gender, age, personality, and history of motion sickness) and other unique psychological, cognitive, physical, and functional characteristics that are common in a variety of clinical conditions are very important and should be considered. Sensitivity in some patients need to be considered, including apprehensiveness to use head-mounted display (HMD), the reality test itself, learning capacity to act in a virtual environment, and the potential side effects and duration. These issues must be specified, because of ethical reasons and the effectiveness of education and treatments based on VR.3,32


Virtual simulation costs often comprises hardware and software. High-end VR hardware costs approximately 3,000 for a setup (laptop and headset). Software costs depend on provider and quality of product, but is frequently under one-tenth of the cost of physical simulation independent of provider.10 As such, there are substantial setup and running cost savings to be made with virtual reality.


Virtual reality is a technology based on idea of immersing into the reality artificially not naturally. Finally VR becomes a reality but there are some Pros and Cons of it. Some of the major pros and cons are listed below:


One of the main pros of Virtual reality is effective communication. Users can communicate with each other and thus enjoy the conversation between them. It gives a new experience of communicating with the people.


The aim of this study was to assess what drives gender-based differences in the experience of cybersickness within virtual environments. In general, those who have studied cybersickness (i.e., motion sickness associated with virtual reality [VR] exposure), oftentimes report that females are more susceptible than males. As there are many individual factors that could contribute to gender differences, understanding the biggest drivers could help point to solutions. Two experiments were conducted in which males and females were exposed for 20 min to a virtual rollercoaster. In the first experiment, individual factors that may contribute to cybersickness were assessed via self-report, body measurements, and surveys. Cybersickness was measured via the simulator sickness questionnaire and physiological sensor data. Interpupillary distance (IPD) non-fit was found to be the primary driver of gender differences in cybersickness, with motion sickness susceptibility identified as a secondary driver. Females whose IPD could not be properly fit to the VR headset and had a high motion sickness history suffered the most cybersickness and did not fully recover within 1 h post exposure. A follow-on experiment demonstrated that when females could properly fit their IPD to the VR headset, they experienced cybersickness in a manner similar to males, with high cybersickness immediately upon cessation of VR exposure but recovery within 1 h post exposure. Taken together, the results suggest that gender differences in cybersickness may be largely contingent on whether or not the VR display can be fit to the IPD of the user; with a substantially greater proportion of females unable to achieve a good fit. VR displays may need to be redesigned to have a wider IPD adjustable range in order to reduce cybersickness rates, especially among females.


VR hardware can be used to create a 3D gaming experience. VR headsets commonly feature a screen for each eye, which is intended to reduce distractions and drive focus to the task at hand. A 3D mask is often used with a headset or another device to keep you engaged in your virtual reality. The setup that engages with your personal hardware is generally quite expensive because it involves sensors that need to be placed around the gaming room. These sensors help the game to deliver accurate outcomes as you engage with the events on your screen.


Tim Cook finally got to have his 'one more thing' moment with the launch of a $3499 AR/VR headset. The Apple Vision Pro, announced today at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, is a mixed-reality headset that uses augmented reality (seeing virtual objects as a layer over the real world) and virtual reality (seeing a completely virtual world across your field of vision) to display games, office tools, conference calls, and photos and videos.


Interesting, my reaction was the opposite. Surprisingly light and stylish compared to the competition and you can look through, so mix reality with virtual reality. In my opinion ground breaking! (And I had zero expectations for this).
