BMI.com lists two different songs by this title, so I'm not sure which
writer is correct, if either: Paul Edgar Johnson or Martin Christian Haerle.
I'm guessing Johnson, based on the other songs he wrote.
Verse 1:
I have a feeling in my soul
Since the Savior made me whole
Way down, way down
Away down deep in my soul
I trust in Jesus everyday
For I know I'm on my way
Way down, way down
Yes, away down deep in my soul
Chorus:
Down in my soul I'll sing and pray
'Til Christ shall come to take me with Him to stay
Then I'll be going to that home
Never more from Him to roam
Verse 2:
A light of heaven I now can see
For He came and set me free
Way down, way down
Away down deep in my soul
I know that there's glory to behold
For I can feel it in my soul
Way down, way down
Yes, away down deep in my soul

A search engine (dogpile.com) turned up this link. It gives the
writer's name and lyrics. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Life is God's open book test. In order to pass,
you must open His book to find the answers.
Ok, the album it's on is "Sheltered In The Arms Of God", on RCA/Camden, 1971.
Floyd Hunter is credited as the writer of "Way Down Deep In My Soul".
Thanks again for checking that, Ray. Does it list a publisher, by any
chance?
I've checked, and found that Hunter is not affiliated with any of the major
licensing companies . . . BMI, ASCAP, or SESAC. For all the talk of
songwriters being ripped off in gospel music by artists who don't pay
royalties, they sure don't make it easy to track them down sometimes. I
guess I'll just record it, and if he or his publisher ever asks for the
royalty, I'll gladly pay them whatever I owe at that time.
Nope.
