The correct title of this song is I Bowed on My Knees And Cried Holy. The song
was written in 1923 and copyrighted.

The copyright was not renewed and the song went Public Domain at the end of 28
years. In the '50's it was brought back, and copyrighted under an arrangement
by an author. In the 80's it became quite popular again by Michael English,
vocalist with The Singing Americans at the time. This recording is out of print
at this time, and I am not sure if anyone else has a version that is available.

Harold, do you know who wrote it? I had heard that the author was
unknown.

If you can catch a performance by Jericho, their owner/bass singer
Dwayne Burke usually has the Singing Americans' version available at the
record table. I bought a couple copies of _Live and Alive_ from him
about three years ago at The Grand Ole Gospel Reunion.

Since singing the song with the SA back in 1983, Michael English has
since recorded "I Bowed On My Knees" with The Gaither Vocal Band on
their recording _Southern Classics, Vol. 1_ and as a solo on his 1998
project titled _Gospel_. He also recorded it with The Brooklyn
Tabernacle Choir around 1992 or so. I think that project was called
_Live With Friends_. It's still one of his most requested tunes at his
shows.

After Michael English left the Singing Americans, a man named Scott
Whitener joined them. He performed the song with the SA for several
years. In 1996, he joined The Melody Masters. They have more requests
for Scott to sing "I Bowed On My Knees" than any other song. It's
available on their recording called _University Live_.

David,

I have the music, but can't put my hands on it tonight. I think there were two
writers in this 1923 song. I think the last name was Washington. It was a lady.
I'll try to find and let you know.

Yes, it's on their Southern Classics CD. The original, not volume 2.
They call it "I Bow on My Knees"

Hi,
A friend of mine has asked if I could help him locate a song, which he
thinks may have been done by a group called the Osborne's? Anyway, it has
some of the following words, as he remembers:

I dreamed of a city of glory that was so fair.
I saw Jacob. I went to see Jesus who died for me.
I bowed on my knees and cried glory!

If anyone knows the title of that song and who the author is, and how to
locate it, my friend would appreciate it, and I would appreciate any help as
well!

Thanks,
Matt

I believe Gaither Vocal Band released the song as well when Michael English
sang with them.

Bea Packer is aka Wally Fowler, who does claim writing the song in the 50's.
However, this work is derrived from the original version, written and
copyrightted in 1923, but went public domain after 28 years because the owner
did not renew the copyright.
