Our own David Stuart was there. Maybe he'll see this and respond. Until
then, there have been reports posted about the funeral at

("I know a pagan piano riff when I hear it." - Dr. Bobby Clark)
But anyhoo!, it was a bittersweet day, down in Akron, very sad to say
goodbye to George. The church was probably three quarters full, nobody
in the balcony, it kind of surprised me , i thought it would be more
packed out than it was, I guess i was thinking of when i was there in 99
at the Cathedrals Farewell concert and the line was almost a mile long
getting in the church. It was nothing like that for the funeral, but
still quite a big crowd.
It was like a who's who in gospel music in attendance, Bill and Gloria
Gaither and his gang, Anthony Burger, Jessy Dixon, Kevin Williams,
Gaither Vocal Band, Russ Taff, Jeff and Sheri Easter and Charlotte and
her husband, Greater Vision, I saw Scott Fowler of Legacy 5, i didnt
seE Roger, he may have been there, i saw his wife, Ernie's group, of
course, Signature Sound, Jimmy Jones, Ann Downing , Sue Dodge, Ben
Speer, Mary Tom Speer, Wesley Pritchard, Lynda Randle, the Nelons, and
Judy , Rex's widow, i saw Tracy Stuffle and Libbi Perry Stuffle.,
Now some of these folks were in the choir, some were in the audience.
A lot of the former Cathedrals were there, Roger?, i think, then there
was Scott Fowler, ERnie Haase, Mark Trammell, Danny Funderburke, Kirk
Talley, Steve Lee, George amon Webster, Roy Tremble, maybe more, but
thats the ones i saw there.
Many other folks in the audience like Maurice Templeton and people from
the Singing News magazine and others.
I know i a missing a lot of people, but i am just going by memory here.
Song sung there :
Amazing Grace, with Jeff Easter on the harmonica, featuring the whole
Gaither choir,
I Will Meet You In the Morning,
CannaanLand is Just in Site, with a verse sung by Gerald Wolfe,
What a Meeting in the Air,
GAither Vocal Band sang "I believe in a Hill called Mt. Calvary"
Suppertime, featuring Ben Speer, and recitation by Jimmy Jones,
Jessy Dixon sang the song "I wonder what theryre doing in Heaven right
now"
SSQ sang "O What a SAviour"
Because He Lives
and closed by O Come Angel Band, the last song, where the pallbearers
carried George out of the church while the choir sang this song.
Speakers were Bill and Goria Gaither, Rev. Arnold Fleagle, and Rev. Phil
Hoskins.
In front of church they had the casket , also a large portrait of George
and i stand with his cowboy boots sitting on it. and lots of flowers and
floral arrangements.
I was unable to attend at the graveyard in Stow, as i had to leave
Akron and head home for work.
